Jim Tressel OSU hire in 2001

I know. I’m just pointing out that just because you come from the top FCS program doesn’t mean you’ll succeed at a high level at a FBS school.
He built NDSU and left as soon as he got a BCS offer at a place he liked. Fargo is a nice town but damn the winters are awful. Laramie at least gets some breaks in the wind and cold.

You can say that again I have cousins that live up there and they dread when winter comes….Of course a few of them rib me once in awhile how awful our program has become since Pelini exited..

One of them told me Klienman wouldn’t leave K-State for Nebraska because of Taylor who was the AD for the Bison.. apparently their very very close..

I listened to an interview with him on ESPN (prior to being woke) when he first took over at Wyoming, and I was very impressed. He has a vision and knows the recipe for success. It is coming to fruition. The [program at Wyoming is here to stay, the foundation is not built on sand.
Bohl’s getting ol
Part of me wants to hire an FCS coach just to watch the carnage that will ensue on here LOL
honestly I think hiring a guy like Vigen from MSU would probably work better than some of the established names.

I lived in Columbus at the time of the hire... It was not a pleasant announcement. Many fans were not happy. His style of play was not as popular as you think. Chris Speilman had the best analogy of it, punt and play defense until the opportunity to score presents itself. Tressel took very few chances on offense, he lived off his defense, and would he would flip the field on punts. Once the field was flipped he would take more chances on offense. Most people in Columbus hated it.
Are we talking Tressel here or Ferentz?
