BYU players don't play football for 7 years though, and while I don't agree with Morans on a lot of things, their reasons for sticking around that long are a result of a selfless act to be a positive influence on the world and not for profit on any level.....but I don't love it.

I hear ya. I guess your initial post didn't give off that tenor. Just that 25 year Olds shouldn't be playing college football. It's just never bothered me so maybe I'm different.

First if you are that old and still playing obviously some things didn't go your way. Be it injuries, redshirts or JC (mission notwithstanding).

Second you are more than likely not an NFL prospect so it probably won't tilt the balance to the point where it's unfair.

Finally where we disagree wholeheartedly is on the financial aspects. If I'm 25 yrs old and can further my education while possibly making a substantial amount of money where it's possibly the equivalent to 2 or more years in my chosen field why wouldn't I? First the coaches wouldn't bring me back if they didn't value me as such and I wouldn't come back if my heart wasn't in it.

I guess for me at least in football I don't think the value is near as much to tip the playing field..BYU isn't winning natties because they are playing grown men. I just think it may be being made a bigger deal than it actually is.

Kind of surprised the coaches brought him back to be honest. I like him as a player a lot, but he’s in a tough situation with his blood clots.

From what I heard, he’s basically non contact every day except game day (at least this year).

If he has similar medical restrictions next year, that will make it very tough to hone your skill as a linebacker and be ready for game day.

I think that pretty well puts him into a coverage / 3rd down LB role, which I suppose still has enough value that the coaches feel they should bring him back.

This will be common place going forward.

Juco players will avg 24 to 25 if they play all 6 years.
Basically treating two years of juco like one year of prep school. The way most freshmen QBs bounce around these days and get recruited over by transfers with starting experience, I think we could see some HS QBs go juco in order to get 20 starts at a higher level and then try to command more NIL when they do go to a four year program. Probably have a better chance at starting too.

Doesn't bother me a bit if he's good. Hell BYU been doing it for years and nobody complains about it lol.

College basketball teams mantra used to be get old and stay old. If they are good ill take as many 25 yo as possible lol.

He's a perpetually online middle aged or boomer man talking about college kids playing a game. Doesn't have a lot of room to talk for how other people should live their lives.

Not to mention everyone is going to get replaced by AI soon anyway. Best to stay in college and avoid the real world as long as possible. The real world sucks.
