Jan 8th decision for Malik

I think once Sims signed with Nebraska it all but closed the door on Hornsby being a QB at Nebraska. Now maybe Rhule can convince Hornsby his best option is playing a different position at Nebraska but I think the kid wants to play QB. If you haven't watched Sims video I suggest you do, he is quite impressive.

85 scholarship limit. That's funny. Does it really matter anymore? Any booster can just pay the student through school via NIL. To be honest, all of the NCAA rules are a joke now. They can't do a damn thing about anything anymore.

Rhule instantly said Sims is an NFL QB. I like the connections that got him to NU.

I hope we do have some additional commitments coming soon. Bring it on! But after all of the recruiting dust settles the next big question is who we are going to send packing in order to get down to the 85 scholarship limit.

I also hope we have a lot of dead weight hit the portal soon....otherwise it will be interesting to see how we get the roster down to 85 by next fall.

Not worried about Hornsby.. give Nebraska the guard and tackle from the Gators and the defensive lineman from A&M!
Add the other guard transfer from Florida that just entered as well..

Seems like Florida's entire roster is in the portal.

Add this LB from Florida too as long as we’re taking their roster..😂

There’s plenty of candidates for this, but just hope it’s all the right ones and no more of the wrong ones.

I was not impressed at all by his stats, but I did watch the film, now understanding why they like him.
Definitely has all the tools, and he plays smooth and seemingly composed.

But those were the highlights, and he’ll need to grow up fast to reduce the INTs. His comp% is also bad, but there’s a lot that goes into that number.
Either way, hopefully he’ll peak upon arrival.

And the NCAA did it to themselves.

It's going to be interesting what happens with the QB position going forward, you have to believe it's going to thin out a bit going forward. Regarding Sims, I like his arm and I love his running ability and he's built pretty solid which you need to be in the BIG. I see Sims playing some this coming year and Thompson is going to have some competition for the starting job, I believe Sims is that smart and physically talented enough to play in 2023.

I wonder what more he will know by the 8th. More phone conversations? I no longer think it will be Nebraska although that once seemed a sure thing. Sims commitment changed all that.
I think we're done at QB. The focus should be on getting a top young QB in 2024.

Problem for Hornsby is UNLV has a soph QB who can run OK, passes 65%, and has a 135 QB rating putting him around #65 for FBS QBs. The backup is a soph who doesn't run much, but has a higher completion percentage and rating. Baylor has Blake Shapen who will be a junior. He played quite a bit as a freshman in 2021 and started in 2022. His backup is a composite 4* soph.

Hopefully Rhule, Satterfield and the WR coach, who will probably also have NFL experience (Frisman Jackson?) can sit Hornsby down and convince him if he wants to make the league it will be at a position other than QB and they will do all they can to help him get there.

if he's ok to be a qb on the depth chart and won't cry at millard north:

1. thompson for passing more
2. sims for 50/50
3. hornsby for running more
4. smothers incase injuries abound

thats a decent qb depth chart
