Well this sucks. Defense is falling apart
Doubt this has anything to do with Knighton. Williams I think comes from pretty tough circumstances and he's probably heard some bigger NIL offers. NU gave him his shot. Kinda sucks for him to do this but if you've grown up with nothing and somebody waves a check in front of your nose it's tough to turn down. Hopefully it works out for him and he actually gets paid.
Wanted to see him grow as a Husker, but this is the state of things. He had a couple of nice moments. Go get paid young man.
I liked Williams….thought he generatd good pressure at times. Don’t know if he will ever be more than a situational pass rusher but there is demand at all levels for those guys. Good luck
It may be somewhat related to Pot Roast but as you noted $$$$ rules the day. We need to spend wisely to rebuild the defense. These Husker websites used to live off recruiting, but in this new world of pro football there is almost no discussion of early signing day, which is tomorrow.🤣

He was able to pop against the shittier teams on the schedule and I would think he would have a mid major destination.
This is the new CFB gentleman. It’s no longer about development, it’s about who can restructure their roster each year and coach’em up. Coaches that have resources and can manage the chaos will thrive.
IF this is related to Knighton potentially leaving I hope he's not counting on a big check from FSU. They have a history of not delivering. I understand it. IF he can get a big NIL deal he probably has to take it but I hope this doesn't back fire on some guys.
This is why we have MAC type programs. Go get guys that have lifted for 4 years, that have practiced for 4 years that have adjusted to college life.

Where does that put us without a DC to manage what we need . Hopefully we fill it soon but get the right person more important than speed

My fear for Williams is that he believes he's good enough to play at a place like FSU. I don't see it. Not yet anyways. I hope somebody hasn't sold him a bill of goods and he gets left out.

That’s right, every year need to raid MAC PAC 12 AAC Mtn West Big 12 for kids that have been developed for 3 years already. Piss on recruiting very many freshman, they won’t stick with you after a couple years so why develop them.

We don't even know if our bowl opponent will be hurt by the portal, maybe have a few top kids sit out pre-draft.
It will be soooooooo much fun trying to decide which teams, if any, are worth throwing a few bucks on come wagering season again.
I almost feel like we will be the opposite. Even with less horses, some kids are gonna get this unexpected opportunity and that can only be a good thing for the program.
Don't think it's a money thing. I'm sure we could have matched such offers if that were the case.
Williams has said Knighton is more of a father to him than his own dad

I like Williams, hope he gets a nice NIL payday. He was not an every down DE though and we have guys to play his spot like Lenhardt etc

Williams is an elite pass rusher no doubt about it. From an impact perspective, I think Princewill hurts a little more. From a storyline perspective, this one stings for me. Don't think anyone expected anything out of him coming in, but he's played his way and made a big impact. Have a soft spot for kids who can shake off the walk-on label and excel on the field when given the chance.
Disagree, imo he was undersized, look at Iowa’s two rush end , Williams relied on speed he would fit in well in the big 12

Why do you only show up when bad news happens? Never see you after something good happens. Where were you when we beat Colorado? Wisconsin? Why are you here now?

Nebraska can match nearly any other NIL offer. Especially for someone like Williams (he ain't going to get crazy money). So I don't see how NIL would be an issue.
