I'd wonder if recruiting chops are still as important as they used to be, since most players with options are going to the highest bidder.

I've wondered the same. However, you have to believe that there is often even money being offered. As this NIL thing gets more refined, have to believe teams know the market value of players with more and more precision. So, yeah, I think you need good recruiters for those jump ball type situations.

You think a coach loses his entire contact list and maintaining relationships in that short of a time span? No.

BB hasn’t been an on field coach, but I guarantee he is still cultivating relationships with a lot of coaches - both HS and college. He mentioned visiting other coaches in the past year in the OWH article.

Relationships with high school players. He has none right now. IF he were a high school coach in Saint Louis or Houston, he would have a few. Right now he has zero anywhere.

How do you think college coaches initiate relationships with HS players? I just think people are making too much of this. The 2025 class is already signed, so NU is working on 2026 and 2027 classes. More than enough time to establish and cultivate HS player relationships.

Nobody is making a big deal out of it. It’s just a fact. I certainly didn’t disqualify him over it. IF he were the guy, we would know it by now.
