Jalen Loyd - portal

I am simply saying we don't know how Hunter will adjust/perform here.

he appears to be a nice prospect, but I am not going to call him a surefire bet to elevate our offense like many others for several very logical reasons.

thank you for your continued derangement.
First you say he is not good from a shitty conference. Now he is a nice prospect . You cover all bases to make sure you are right either way. You are a POS troll nothing more nothing less.

16 fewer catches than the TE
45 fewer rec yards than the TE

Hunter led Cal in exactly one (1) receiving category - TDs.

worth noting Cal's top WR in '23 also transferred to the B1G. and proceeded to barely reach half the production he found at Cal.

you are correct, though - we got the best WR from the 14th best ACC team.
Kong, you are troubled about Lloyd leaving. Are you aware that he had 1/3 the number of receptions as Fidone??? Then surely he isn’t that great, right?

Yep. He’s Xavier Worthy.

And somehow you’d find a way to make that look “average” to any team that acquired him.

What are you talking about? Thin?

Our starting 3 have DRASTICALLY improved.

Starter
Barney - stud. Not sure why you care how much he weighs. He produced and is a difference maker.
Dane Key - SEC starter who led team in everything
Nyziah Hunter - led team in everything. Big body.
Hardley Gilmore - RS freshman. 4 star.

Just need 1 of this group to step up and provide depth
Quinn Clark 6’5”
Carter Nelson 6’5”
Keelan Smith 6’3”
Dimitrius Bell - 4 star freshman coming off knee injury

Which 1 of these freshmen step up and be this years Barney? Probably both.
Cortez Mills
Isaiah Mozee

That’s a solid 6 deep without Alex Bullock even having to put his helmet on.
I honestly think your list proved Kong's point more than anything..

The list included three guys that have proven they can play D1 ball. Two guys coming off knee and hip surgery. Everyone else being a true or redshirt freshman.

Honestly that list is scary. I feel good about the young guys we have on the team, but we need more guys that have played well at a D1 level. We certainly have a staff and QB in place that will want to throw the ball.

Maybe that is true dingle. I certainly hope it is! But I just haven’t seen this alleged athleticism from him on the field.
For a guy his size he has excellent straight line speed. Not many TEs IF any, have great side to side elusiveness. Haarberg is athletic enough to play TE in the NFL. He needs to add mass and demonstrate the football skills consistently to play TE to get drafted there.

Banks had more catches and yards than Hunter this year.

you are now the second person in this thread to lie about his performance last year.

curious.
Hunter - 40 catches for 578 yards and 5 TDs
Banks - 44 catches for 587 yards and 3 TDs.

Look dude, I don't really care. You can make your mind up about which had a better year. Don't call me a liar because that would mean I actually care about this shit, which I don't.

First you say he is not good
you of course will find no such quote from me. this is your derangement talking.

as for me saying he's from a shitty conference, I am just parroting what all the experts here (yourself included) say about the ACC.

Hunter is the best WR from the 14th best team in the ACC. a 3* recruit with some size who put up numbers in a passing league on a 6-win team.

I think Busch is a very good guy and coach. I’m not sure what he brings to the table from a recruiting standpoint.

He used to be a great recruiter. If I'm not mistaken he was responsible for the group of Arizona guys . That year we got about 5 out of there

Hagg
Prince
Marcel
Yancy
Jai Burkes

Wasn't Busch responsible for those guys? I could be wrong tho. I'm getting old lol.

I’d say he’s a gifted athlete but I’m not sure how good of a TE he is. He has a lot of measurables to like but until he gets a big enough body of work where we can see what his hands and routes look like, we can’t form an educated opinion of him.

He's big and straight line fast. That's his biggest asset. All this other stuff about him is truly unknown. Couple guys on here will make you think he's an all pro TE already lol. Others will tell you he's trash and shouldn't even be playing D1.

Dude has a big frame and is straight line fast. That's all I can say about him from NOW. Nobody knows if it will translate yet.

Which means Nelson might be the biggest recruiting bust for us in years. Came in as this big time major recruit. Best in the class! And yet now he is not as good as the journeyman Swiss Army knife Haarberg? Yikes
It's more a luxury perhaps all parties involved can afford... For the right price nowadays

He was also awaaayyyy better blocker than Fidone has been for his career here. Perhaps best blocking te that's caught any passes other than Lindenmeyer.

In just that small sample size, anyone could easily see that and imagine further development in that asking with adding at least 10 more pounds easy enough with his frame. Can catch and run super fast straight line as you pointed out.

Could be awesome. Worth a shot.

And at this point we need to replace Banks who was pretty damned good for us. Thank God we have Barney. Another burner who is bigger than Lloyd would be nice to have but the odds of us getting that guy in the portal are slim. We need at least one of our freshman recruits to be a good option. Mickey's connection in Louisiana would be nice to have right now but he got the guys he got because of the relationships he built at LSU. Hopefully the Miami connection now gets us some dudes at WR and CB.

Hunter was their best WR and led them in receiving in every category.

Hunter 40 catches, 578 yards, 5 TDs
Grizell 27, 401, 1
Brady 36, 386, 3
Matthews 32, 272, 1
Merriweather 11, 125, 1
Starling 9, 121, 0

We got their best WR and it’s not even close. Stop trying to create some weird, false narrative that he’s not their best WR and we got an “average guy”

He’s proven.
Let's not let bring facts into the discussion please.

I would hope that, if you were looking at this logically, you would assume that Hunter is a WR3

Literally we are upgrading

WR1 - Banks for Key - 200 more yards and 1 less TD
WR2 - Barney for Barney - bigger in 2025 - presumably better
WR3 - Neyor for Hunter - yes please!!!

Then the 3 freshman 4 stars
Mozzee for Lloyd and his 13 for 255 and 0
Cortez Mills for Casteneda and his 1 catch for 12 yds
Hardley for Mangini and his 1 catch for 11 yds

We retain
Bullock
Bonner
Nelson

Nyziah Hunter

is Xavier Worthy?

sure thing, Bill.

hope you're right.

You CLEARLY didn’t get the correlation

Xavier Worthy had less receptions and yards (but more TDs) than Travis Kelce. His numbers actually line up almost perfectly.

I was saying that you’d be complaining if we were members of a team that just acquired Worthy by saying “he didn’t lead his team in receiving”.

Meaning that Worthy is a STUD yet because he was behind a TE you’d find fault in him somehow

Literally we are upgrading every WR.

WR1 - Banks for Key - key had 200 more yards and 1 less TD
WR2 - Barney for Barney - Barney will bigger in 2025 - presumably better and improve on the 0TD and 8 YPC

The room talent and depth have been MASSIVELY upgraded

He's definitely worth a shot. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just not of the mindset that he's "the next big thing" like many on this board is.

I seen him block with some nice designed angles . He's done that where Fidone has failed. But again sample size so small is it enough?

Will they ever put his hands on the line and attempt for him to block 265-275 pound BIG defensive ends like Fidone had too? If so I'll make my judgement when I see that.

I'm just in wait and see mode. I won't have a baby over two good blocks and 7 yard catch in a bowl game. So much more to it. I agree he has the requisite frame with a few pounds added of course. Definitely don't question his speed. Don't question his heart either. For me it's all about timing and reps. Imo this move should've been made 2-3 years ago. Then I think we would be able to see a different result. The upside I think is probably still there but imo we won't ever get to benefit it all at Nebraska. If all goes well (+hoping like hell it does) we will see the best HH in the NFL in about 3 years from now at 6'5 255.

So yes it's definitely worth the squeeze. Definitely fits the profile. Imo it's tempered due to late start.
