Jalen Loyd - portal

I don't know about Busch but Foley definitely needs to go.

According to recent comments by Steve Sipple (who works with Bill Busch on the radio), there has been no communication between Nebraska and Busch. So, it doesn’t look like Busch will be hired as Foley’s replacement.

WR room once again looking incredibly thin going into a pivotal season

2 transfers - Key is good, Hunter who knows - and Barney who weighs 165lbs soaking wet

After that, we have Bonner, who isn’t really a WR, and nobody else who’s caught a meaningful pass in college

We need a couple more guys all of a sudden.

Our injury luck is going to run out at some point & the lack of depth here and at RB has us walking a tightrope

I hope the staff can lure Lloyd back.

I bet they put some decent muscle and weight on JB this off-season. 10 to 15 lbs is doable. Peanut butter shake time.

Yeah Husker fans truly love Busch (pause). I'm ok with him but I'm not attached. As long as we have somebody else. I'd actually prefer a younger coach. Not McGuire young but mid 30 young. But as long as Foley is gone ill be gone.

I'm not super concerned about WR depth, but I'd tamper with the young 6'5" receiver from Boise. He flashed some potential from what I saw.

I think Busch is a very good guy and coach. I’m not sure what he brings to the table from a recruiting standpoint.

What are you talking about? Thin?

Our starting 3 have DRASTICALLY improved.

Starter
Barney - stud. Not sure why you care how much he weighs. He produced and is a difference maker.
Dane Key - SEC starter who led team in everything
Nyziah Hunter - led team in everything. Big body.
Hardley Gilmore - RS freshman. 4 star.

Just need 1 of this group to step up and provide depth
Quinn Clark 6’5”
Carter Nelson 6’5”
Keelan Smith 6’3”
Dimitrius Bell - 4 star freshman coming off knee injury

Which 1 of these freshmen step up and be this years Barney? Probably both.
Cortez Mills
Isaiah Mozee

That’s a solid 6 deep without Alex Bullock even having to put his helmet on.

Busch has been known as a very solid recruiter.
Sure but where’s his base now? He’s been out of coaching for several years now. Other than Dana, Rhule is hiring young guys with an obvious natural market. I would be very happy with Bill as our STC but I’m just pointing out one other consideration.

Nelson just had hip surgery. No word on why or how long he will need to rehab.

6 months is the early recovery window

basically the entire offseason
I wasn’t counting on much from him yet even without the surgery. He needs to get stronger. He could be a candidate to redshirt now this fall. IF he comes back this fall that’s great but I haven’t seen anything out of him so far that Haarberg can’t provide as a receiver.

Which means Nelson might be the biggest recruiting bust for us in years. Came in as this big time major recruit. Best in the class! And yet now he is not as good as the journeyman Swiss Army knife Haarberg? Yikes

If BB desires to get back into coaching - not sure he does - he has recruited many different areas. Going off memory during his stints at NU in the past he was responsible for the 500-mile radius, California, and Arizona. He also has coached at Utah and would have contacts in the Pacific Northwest. I also think he was the lead recruiter for Hawaii and Polynesian players at previous stops. Unless all the HS coaches in these areas are new, he would still retain all those relationships. It is not like he is unknown or not coaching for a few years eliminates all his contacts. They are still there and it would just take some time for reintroducing himself and getting back into a groove. If anyone could get back into the swing of things with recruiting and getting back into a groove very quickly it would be BB.

With all due respect Pennsy…

How about some Nebraska fans slow down a little bit and give the man a chance to recover...unreal. Winking

Hunter was their best WR and led them in receiving in every category.

Hunter 40 catches, 578 yards, 5 TDs
Grizell 27, 401, 1
Brady 36, 386, 3
Matthews 32, 272, 1
Merriweather 11, 125, 1
Starling 9, 121, 0

Endries is a TE. Ott is a RB.

We got their best WR and it’s not even close. Stop trying to create some weird, false narrative that he’s not their best WR and we got an “average guy”

He’s proven.

Kind of my point. The kid is a freshman and just had surgery and yet according to dingle it isn’t any big deal because he isn’t as good as Haarberg anyway. I don’t agree with that assessment.
Don’t understand the Haarberg worship on this page sometimes. The dude has done nothing and is not a gifted athlete, no matter what Rhule or Kong claim

this is why I believe the people yelling "look at all these 4* WRs!" from the rooftops are completely divorced from reality.

we're super thin everywhere in terms of production.

maybe some 4* guys will emerge and perform to their potential. would be nice to see for a change, but far from the expectation based on what we have experienced historically.

I’d say he’s a gifted athlete but I’m not sure how good of a TE he is. He has a lot of measurables to like but until he gets a big enough body of work where we can see what his hands and routes look like, we can’t form an educated opinion of him.

16 fewer catches than the TE
45 fewer rec yards than the TE

Hunter led Cal in exactly one (1) receiving category - TDs.

worth noting Cal's top WR in '23 also transferred to the B1G. and proceeded to barely reach half the production he found at Cal.

you are correct, though - we got the best WR from the 14th best ACC team.

His QB had better numbers than ours, and he had better numbers than any of our receivers. Statistically CAL was 9th best in the ACC on offense. 30 more yards per game than NU.

Kong had made up his mind. Hunter sucks and there is no other way of seeing things. I guess we will just have to hope Kong likes the next transfer.

Banks had more catches and yards than Hunter this year.

you are now the second person in this thread to lie about his performance last year.

curious.

I am simply saying we don't know how Hunter will adjust/perform here.

he appears to be a nice prospect, but I am not going to call him a surefire bet to elevate our offense like many others for several very logical reasons.

thank you for your continued derangement.

for development programs like ours, nil should be directed at maintaining the core rather than shopping for upgrades. keagan johnson is available.
