Watched this old classic last night with Jeanette. Such a great, feel-good Christmas show.
Couple interesting bits of trivia. The cabbie and cop friends are named Ernie and Burt. They were the inspiration for the iconic Sesame Street characters for whom they were named.
The bartender Nick, played by Sheldon Leonard, is also significant. An actor in this show, he later became more famous as the executive producer of some of the most enduring television shows including Make Room for Daddy, The Andy Griffith Show, The Dick Van Dyke Show and Gomer Pyle, USMC.
More recently -- and likely more familiar to most RSSers -- the lead male characters of The Big Bang Theory, Sheldon and Leonard, were named after him.
