He was so clearly down. Just a ridiculous call. We had every chance to overcome it, but still an awful call.
One cannot just focus on one play and prejudge a player because of it. Give him a break. Wow.
That play may have got Coach Frost fired - as far as I am concerned that was the play of the year.
Now we just need to bring back Keyshawn Jr!
No single play got Frost fired. His overall record for sure and possibly the rumored off field behavior is what got him fired. It never was about one play.

All of the above. Anyone of our ten thousand receivers could have a stupendous year. We just don't know yet...
I support second chances in general, but it’s all about circumstances. We may not know all the details, but on the surface….
Betts did the proper thing and quit in the off- season. I’m still pretty hesitant with him, and frankly skeptical he can demonstrate the commitment needed to be a good asset.
Garcia-Castaneda quitting mid-season is a deal breaker for me. Unless there’s a great story there beyond what his dad said was “he wanted to be the #1 guy and MJ told him he’d have to earn it,” then I’m not sure why we’d even entertain it.
The next question is: Can we not find better options out there? These seem like semi-lazy choices for coaches.

I think he is coming back because his scholarship is guaranteed (thanks, obama) and he couldn't find one elsewhere

Several guys have left the program mid year(early) or after just a semester or season.
Back in the old day you’d call them quitters but now I see they were smart to leave this shit show.
He left midseason because Alberts fired Frost and in order to save a year of eligibility, he had to enter the portal before the 5th game and within the window allowed by NCAA when a coach is fired.

I just can’t have much respect for guys on the two deep who quit on their teammates, when the narrative was he just wanted a few more targets.
I blame the NCAA for the crazy loopholes. 4 games, 30 or 45 day window if a coach is fired. Clearly the staff wasn't going to use him as they did in the NW game. The next 3 games his utilization dropped, to about 24 plays per game and he was targeted half a dozen times in those 75 plays. If this was me, I would probably see the writing on the wall. If I had an out and could save a year of eligibility, I would have taken it too. It is an easy call from 30,000 feet with 20/ 20 hindsight.
I believe he has the potential to produce like Trey Palmer did last year. His production to date may just be OK, although he had several big plays, but he is extremely talented.
And it is likely to thin out rapidly after Spring practice when the pecking order sorts itself out.
Its 11 over the 85 mark and counting. Wow is this team going to look different by the time fall camp comes around...

This is just awful. It’s everyone’s fault but the person who chose to actually withdraw and quit his team. That’s right, Blame the system. Weak ass shit. helicopter parent shit . Hell Mickey is on record as saying ICG was pouting about him coming to Nebraska to be the man and being the #1 but Palmer beat him out. ICG didn’t want to be #2, even though Palmer was light years better… ICG was so great no schools came a calling.
If a player is looking to prolong their time playing the game in college there are loopholes. They give them loopholes to enter the portal in the middle of a season if the AD fires the coach. The give them loopholes to redshirt even if they play in games. It is what it is. You don't have to like it, but there are avenues a player can use to get what they want.
And Nebraska came a calling, because he is back on the squad.

High year-to-year roster churn is a reality for most teams these days. Success in the new world will depend on how well you're able to "pick and choose" the churnees and then mold them into a cohesive team in a short period of time. You'd hope NFL people would be a little more familiar with that process but we'll see. It's a different type of coaching talent required now then was required some years ago.
