I thought I saw somewhere on a message board that a new coach has more flexibility to purge his roster/cut dead weight. Is this true or just someone trolling a thread.
They have seemingly softened if the player does not fit the new "system", but as has been stated here (and everywhere a Husker fan gives an opinion) thousands of times, a good coach will fit his system to his current players. The Nebraska way would not be to run off players, but having flexible coaches that can make their system work to fit them.I thought the NCAA was a little more relaxed about the transfer rule and immediate eligibility when there was a coaching change, but I could be wrong.
isnt that how Lee got an extra year? They have seemingly softened if the player does not fit the new "system", but as has been stated here (and everywhere a Husker fan gives an opinion) thousands of times, a good coach will fit his system to his current players. Maybe it's just your wording/semantics but what you are suggesting is quite the slippery slope. A new staff, especially when bringing in a radically different system, who changes their system to fit players they probably wouldn't have recruited might eek out a couple more wins early but in the long run is stunting the growth of his team...it's increases the length of the learning curve and even creates the potential of losing the team in the long run as they struggle trying to learn too much...almost like an annual reboot as the roster changes. They have seemingly softened if the player does not fit the new "system", but as has been stated here (and everywhere a Husker fan gives an opinion) thousands of times, a good coach will fit his system to his current players.
