This reminds me of the days before Harbaugh was announced at Michigan. Lots of, "It's a done deal", "It's not happening" stuff and pretty much radio silence and coach speak from the principals.
Anything can happen, but you gotta believe that this is a lot more down the road than anyone has let on, almost certainly for the purpose of respecting UCF and their players and to make an elegant exit from UCF. As opposed to our other ADs in the past who made many missteps in the hiring process that not only cost us on the field but also cost us reputation wise, this AD wants things to be as graceful as possible.
One thing is for sure, we're finally out of the business of firing coaches who average over 9 wins a year, at least with this AD. We have done it twice and it's been done at other schools, almost always with the same crappy result. It's also gratifying to see an AD who recognizes that 9-10 wins now is a bigger accomplishment than in the 70s and 80s, that parity is real, and understands that running the ball and stopping the run are the foundation of winning football.
