And yet Iowa has 100 more attempts. I'm sure that's partly due to the fact that they've not had to play from behind as often as NU, but it's also because they didn't spend 3/4 of the season acting as if running the ball is an annoyance.coming into today, iowa avg 4.7 yds per carry. neb avg 4.8
The body snatchers ... is their Big 10 nickname. What went on vs Minny last nite was a crime. 15 penalties on Minny, 2 on the Herks despite the body snatchers in full grab modeTheir OL works together as a complete unit, they always have. It has always been the strength of their team.
IA FB made a nice form tackle on the MN LB to spring IA RB for the long touchdown run. He wrapped him up both hands outside the shoulders. The body snatchers ... is their Big 10 nickname. Herks are an average team that has beaten bad teams
After doing some research, I've learned this also. That is impressive to be sure. What years are all of these backs? How many will be back next year?Iowa has had 3 different rushers gain at least 195 yards and 3 TDs in a single game this year, and both starting OT's haven't been healthy in the same game since Week 3.
I don't care who you are, that's effing impressive.
Why does a Trojan care about any of this? You seem to have a very detailed description of Iowa here.Throw a hold flag on them once and they will be toast ... you would think the Herks could cover last nite vs a 1-5 conference team when they were allowed to hold on every play( they should all #52 Grabby, that kid is a stiff at tackle and their last TD was a complete joke , Minny guy got tackled and no call ... but they got Minny on their long run when it was a perfect block ) but they couldn't again.
Herks are an average team that has beaten bad teams and hung on vs other average teams.
If Husker qb throws it to the team in red , you win and probably big. Iowa's D is a sieve, soft.
They're taught to hide their holds from the refs. A good offensive lineman is an offensive lineman that knows where the refs eyes are at any moment. We used to be very similar in this regard, if you care to remember.I've said for awhile that certain teams are allowed to hold like crazy. The other one that has for years plays in Madison.
We hold also, it's not new to college football. We got away with it all day against Minnesota. He posts pictures and says "pick your poison" and the first picture shows the offense holding. Thanks for proving their points.

The emergence of CJ Beathard/Greg Davis play calling has really covered up some issues Iowa had up front. Ferentz has mostly fixed their issues but Iowa has yet to play a d-line with our size.

$50 says we see Langsdorf regress back into calling a dumfounding offensive game against Iowa. Don't know why, but I just feel he won't stick to what has been working. He hasn't up until the past few games, why start now?And yet Iowa has 100 more attempts. I have watched several of your games this year and got the impression your DL has underperformed vs expectations. Is that not true? Collins and Valentine have obvious talent and Freedom definitely looks the part while Gangwich* is an effort guy, but I guess I haven't seen them dominate games I watched. Maybe it's because of how poorly your secondary has played that I feel that way though. The emergence of CJ Beathard/Greg Davis play calling has really covered up some issues Iowa had up front. Won't be the least bit surprised if Collins/Valentine clog up the run game. Real worry for me is we have zero pass rush & CJ Beathard's consistency dominates the outcome of the game
I share this concern, but hopefully the absolute s--- show at Purdue, followed by two wins in which the Huskers actually showed some balance offensively, has had an impact on Langsdorf.$50 says we see Langsdorf regress back into calling a dumfounding offensive game against Iowa. Beginning of the year, new starters Myers & Boettger struggled in games vs ISU Wisconsin & PITT. Also struggled against Illinois when ya guys suffered some injuries along the line. This was mostly in pass pro which won't be an issue against our walk on defensive ends. What issues has Iowa had up front? This might be the best run blocking line in school history, and they've played 7 OL extensively due to injuries and other factors.
Mostly was referring to Nebraskas size on the dline in the middle. Collins/Valentine will be the biggest dtackles they've seen all year. Our DE's our nothing to fret about which is why I think Beathard may have a big gameI have watched several of your games this year and got the impression your DL has underperformed vs expectations. I thought the best DL Iowa played so far was Illinois and obviously the rush backers from Wisconsin. Should be tough game no matter what and hoping for a win no matter how small.

CJ Beathard is the real key to the Iowa offense. Ya can't tell me Myers is better than Scherff in just his sophomore year? Last years line had better tackles & QBs always make an offensive lines job easier when they hold a defense at bay with the PA & downfield pass.
Honestly think Nebraska sells out to stop the run (like they have all year) & hope CJ Beathard doesn't set an Iowa record for passing yards.
Slowing. Weather could significantly impact this game.Nebraska's front 7 should do a good job of shutting down Iowa's running game.

Doubtful. Iowa's O-Line/TEs/FBs are much better than Nebraska's front seven.

ISU was controlling the line until their DT Tucker??? Not sure what the name is but he went down with an injury & never played the 2nd half. Stats alone don't tell the whole story but we'll find out come Black Friday. Best of luckMyers didn't play against Wisconsin. Iowa had 260 yards rushing against ISU. If you thought our line "struggled", then I don't know what to say. Kind of hurts your credibility when it comes to analyzing football.
The reason that Iowa's run game is so much better this year is because of the backs. We were playing a slow, white fullback as our primary ball carrier last year. You can have as many NFL draft picks as you want to on the OL, your running game is going to suck if you don't have someone that can hit the hole quickly with speed and burst, not to mention maneuver in the open field.
doubtful, when it comes to running the ball. so far, no one has lined up and run the ball on us with their RBs. Beatherd may be able to have some success, but I really don't see Iowa lining up and running the ball right down our throats.
