UCLA has very good coordinators and their QB is better than ours. UCLA’s schedule has been much tougher than Iowa’s. People ridiculed their hire because the guy is terrible in press conferences…..
UCLA has a pretty good chance at winning out and as if right now, three of their losses were to Top 10 teams (Oregon, Penn St and Indiana).
And he had no head coaching experience. Or even coordinator experience.
It’s yet to be seen if he can run a program and deal with all the other crap a head coach has to deal with but he hired very good coordinators. That’s a great start but they lack experience in recruiting etc. it’s going to be interesting to watch.
I don't know why it is so hard to believe that UCLA might actually be am above-average team that started the season with a brutal schedule. They have better athletes than either Iowa or Nebraska.
And a better OC ... and possibly a better DC.
I move back and forth between depression and acceptance. Another 5-7 season will lock me in acceptance
Now we know that UCLA was not the weakest of the four remaining teams on the schedule. They might actually be the best at this point. Doesn't mean our offense should continue to suck though.

A November Friday night game at Iowa? Doubtful. This is the game they fold after the first series. Some might not get off the bus.
If we can somehow manage to cobble together some semblance of an offense we have a fighting chance to win our remaining games and end 8-4. But how likely is it that this late in the season that we can do that? Rhule has clearly sent a signal to his offensive coaches that they need to improve. That will either light a fire in their bellies or create low morale.

They aren't changing. They are just a decent team who had a bunch of brutal games early in the season.
Possibly and probably correct but they could've stayed down after the "brutal games" but instead are proving to be a decent team by fighting. How many seasons have we had where we're supposed to be the better team but take the L week in week out.
They have something we don't right now as a program, resolve and if they continue playing like this their overall record for the year will improve.
Seems our program tends to stay down.. needs to change 🤞
They also have an offensive coordinator that is 💯 better than us and a solid running game which Bieniemy doesn’t abandon ..

USC has scored 48/27/24/38/17/30/28/42/21 The low of 17 was v. Minnesota on the road;
At home they've scored 48/38/30/42. The low of 30 was Penn State.
USC allowed 20/0/27/21/24/33/30/20/26 The low was Utah St (0), LSU & Rutgers 20 each.
At home they've allowed 0/21/33/20. The 0 was Utah St, and the high was Penn State with 33.
In road games this year, NU has scored 28 v. Purdue, 7 v. Indiana, 17 v. OSU.
In the road games NU has allowed 10, 56, and 21.
OSU scored 52/56/49 the first 3 games of the year against Akron, W. Michigan and Marshall, but after those 3 cupcakes OSU has only scored 38/35/31/21/20, as you can see from the 49 against Marshall for FIVE consecutive games the OSU point production has fallen. So this has not been a typical OSU team that scores a ton of points.
USC has very dangerous special teams units. We have a terrible matchup with their WR's, and their backup QB is really good. Regardless of what we think of Riley as a HC, you know, given an off week, he's gonna scheme the shit out of us in the passing game.
Apples and oranges, but USC may score quite a few points unless NU has an inspired, well-schemed defensive plan and effort like the first half of CU or the entire OSU game.
Both teams are in a transition periods 3/4ths of the way through the season. USC removing their starting QB and NU scratching their heads trying to decide what kind of offense they may become.
Which NU team that went on the road to Indiana or OSU show up? The last time both NU and our opponent came off bye weeks together we got our ass handed to us by Indiana.
NU has been a Jekyll and Hyde on the road, and USC is 4-0 ATS at home.
This doesn't look like a very good matchup for the Huskers.

I watched much of the IA-UCLA game and if the Bruins hadn't thrown the INT in the endzone or fumbled in the endzone for a touchback, they might have really rolled the Hawkeyes. Looks like both IA and us caught a vastly improving UCLA team.
(Must be nice to cheer for a team that's actually IMPROVING as the year goes on).

They also have more explosive running backs. Our guys don't inspire fear that if they hit a crease they'll take it to the house.
The game was nowhere near as close as the score. UCLA shut down the Iowa running game and was moving the ball up and down the field. If not for turnovers and penalties this was a blow out. Also the athletic difference in the teams was pretty clear. I saw UCLA running backs outrunning the Iowa defense to the edge and hurdling guys. The last really dangerous running back we've had is the controversial Maurice Washington. The last great one was a decade ago in Ameer Abdullah.
Correct. Our running backs have no explosiveness and no ability to avoid being tackled. It’s a major weakness.
But we also dovetail that with an OL that doesn't move the line of scrimmage, WR's who can't/won't block the perimeter, a QB that's playing poorly then add in the shit playcalling and we've built the perfect storms for a late season meltdown.
It won’t change until 2-3 years from now when the losing culture remnants move on. It can happen sooner if they are told they won’t see the field anymore because Nebraska is hitting the Transfer Portal for Dudes. Dudes that are Alpha, vocal, leaders, and hate losing more than they like winning (I borrowed that phrase from a Nebraska Dude BTW).

I’m pretty sure the OP said it in jest but yeah nothing with this squad leads me to believe they have what it takes to win in Iowa City. They’re too comfortable with losing. The performance on the field and the body language clearly shows they don’t believe in each other and don’t believe in themselves.
Our best chance at winning is at home against Wisconsin which I would love for them to shock a team they haven’t beaten since 2012 and for Heaven’s sake do it for the Seniors. Something positive because I don’t know what motivates this program. It’s like they have no pulse whatsoever.
I’m sticking with my prediction…
USC - Loss (Huskers play well at times but USC is a different team at home)
Wisconsin - Tossup (Slight edge to Wisconsin because they have a history of finding ways to win unlike mentally fragile Nebraska)
Iowa - Loss (If Huskers win against Wisconsin and get Bowl eligibility monkey off their back they can make it a game. If not, no way we beat Iowa and they will rub 5-7 in our faces.

After watching the O line more closely the last couple of games I’m really critical of some of the play designs. They’ve asked our guards to do things against some looks that aren’t possible to execute. I’ve seen several run plays get blown up for losses where the O line had zero chance to make it work. Is that just Raiola or Scott making the wrong line calls at the LOS or is it not having the ability to get in a different play? Who the hell knows. A video breakdown by our coaches would be enlightening.
I remember all of the "UCLA sucks" posts on this message board before the last two weeks. And people making fun of their hiring process, who UCLA hired and the guys speech at Big 10 media days. It was all so silly. Now Foster appears to be college football's Mike Tomlin! (I kid) I'm happy for UCLA. Clearly they are well coached and they've figured some things out. I was glad to see them continue that delayed blitz up the middle tactic against Iowa too. It worked.
