Time to steal their coach?
Talking to a significant Iowa State Booster over breakfast this morning and he told me a Matt Campbell Story I'd like to share.
In 2015 Matt's team, Toledo, played in Ames, Iowa against Iowa State. Matt took the time to walk around campus and out through the Tailgaters before the game. I can't tell you why he did that but I was told he did.
After his walk, he called his wife and told her that this is the school he would Love to Be at...Iowa State. (He obviously was ready to move on from Toledo and low and behold somehow he did end up at Iowa State).
Also now in Ames, Iowa, he and his wife have just finished building a new house in Ames.
The Cyclone Booster told me that Coach Campbell has already informed the Team and the Administration that he is not going anywhere. That he is staying at Iowa State.
Take that for whatever it's worth. But during his interview on TV after beating TCU yesterday, he didn't sound like a coach planning to go anywhere.
Adding to that...another source...a friend from Nashville called me last evening to congratulate me on the Husker Win, and to tell me that Scott Frost would be coming to Nebraska at the end of the year. And that was because Tennessee had already worked out the deal for Matt Campbell to Coach the Volunteers beginning at the end of this season. And to secure this years Recruiting Class, Campbell had agreed that he would not be coaching Iowa State in their bowl game.
To me, the Booster story sounds possible, the Nashville friend's story does not.
Rumor Mill working full speed, and Pretending to be Fact. Sounds like the MSM working the Fake News angle.
But that's what keeps everyone coming back for more! Some days it's fun isn't it!
