Iowa has to be

The measuring stick will be if they are ranked at pre-season and a favorite to win the B1G West. If they meet those 2 criteria then consider them relevant heading into the 2016 season.

Of course they will be favored to win the B1G West the conference schedule is in their favor again this year , it just get's a little more difficult than last year over Nebraska, Wisconsin and NW.

Pure comedy.

Pure comedy is putting up a whopping 250 yards of offense, of which more than half came after our best safety got sent packing on a BS targeting call. You know you got lucky when Gerry went out of the game, and you know it. Your offense was completely shut down until then.

From a "looks" standpoint, watching Iowa is kind of like watching a remake of Hoosiers, with Keith Olbermann in the Gene Hackman role.

And Gesell as a much more athletic Ollie.

One of the only Iowa games I watched this year, and it appeared they did what they needed to do to win. They allow yards, but wait for the opponent to make mistakes & cash in. The quarterback position is the most important position on the field; the offense runs through him, and he also controls much of the tempo in the game.

The hypotheticals of 'if Tommy doesn't do this' or 'this doesn't get called against Gerry' are peculiar - because they are part of the team that the Nebraska Cornhuskers recruited to represent their program, and the result was a better team won the ballgame.

Looking ahead, I suspect Nebraska will be much improved and will compete for the West in '16, as will Iowa.

I think they're arguing that if the Big 10 officials didn't botch the targeting call (Nebraska didn't recruit the officials), the game would've been much different. In particular, there would probably have been a tackler in position to prevent two long touchdown runs.

Who said anything about Tommy shutting down the Iowa offense? If the refs didn't make a bogus targeting call, which cost us our best safety, and also had a lot to do with Iowa scoring on the long runs, we could have very well won the game, despite Tommy's turnovers.

Shit, I just saw McCaffery running down Broadway again. He loves running all over Iowa.

After being ejected 2 games in a row for targeting I'm thinking the guy should have to sit out next year.

Refs got that call right, everyone who isnt a nebby fan knows that. What I know is the better team won period. All the rest is just crying after a loss.

I have to say, this trumps any of the embarrassingly stupid-ass comments Husker fans have made about the loss to Iowa. Other than the crew who worked the game, there isn't anyone on the planet who thinks Gerry should have even drawn a flag for his hit in the UCLA game, let alone be ejected from the game. But you think it should result in him sitting out an entire season?

Good Lord, I'm as tired as anyone of NU fans making excuses for the Iowa loss, but it wouldn't lead me to make as brain-dead an observation as this.

You mean to tell me he was unfairly ejected from 2 games in a row for targeting?! What an unlucky guy!

I didn't say he was unfairly ejected from the Iowa game. I thought that one was a tough call, because the QB floated the pass into no-man's land and both players dived for it. But the way the collision played out, I wasn't surprised that the targeting call was made and upheld.

The call in the UCLA game was one of the worst targeting calls made since the rule was put in place. Even the UCLA head coach thought it was a terrible call. It's an opinion shared by pretty much anyone who's not just dying to add another layer of stupidity to this 6th grade back-and-forth that's been going on ever since the Nebraska-Iowa game.

That was a sh*t call. Perfectly clean hit, but that was nothing like the hit he put on Tevaun.

Definitely different than the Iowa hit.

He was ejected anyway after about a 5 minute video review. Not quite sure what they were reviewing.

Affected the entire second half of the UCLA game.

They ran that exact play several more times in the second half for first down yardage cause he was out.

So it was a perfectly clean hit and a shitty call, but he should have to sit out the 2016 season as a result? Okay.

Fair enough, and I was just ribbing you about sitting out the season. Laughing

The truth of the matter was that that Iowa team never trailed in the game; they stayed one step ahead of them the whole game.

When Iowa needed to answer, Iowa answered. Is Iowa a top team in the nation? Questionable; lean towards no. Is Iowa a top three team in the B1G? That answer, in my unbiased mind, appeared to be yes. Iowa proved that throughout their unbeaten regular season.

Thought the targeting in the Iowa game was 50/50. Thought the targeting in the UCLA game was a total crap call.

Everyone has had their day and we have another pissing match underway. Time to move on to better things.
