Interesting article on Georgia Tech...Nebraska mentioned

He was my second choice behind Jim Tressel after Bo was shown the door.

Would have been fun to have the option game again... especially if it could get Nebraska back in the top 10 again. Having a hard time remembering - outside of the service academies, was Nebraska the last "option" team before Callahan came in?

There is something charming about being the only (or only few) option teams, but also feels a bit weird to be the only team that runs a particular offensive system that has basically been removed from all highschool football programs.

TA does a really nice job on the option but man it does expose your QB to some big hits sometimes. The zone read option seems to not expose the QB to some of the huge hits they got in our old option run game.

Paul Johnson was hired at Georgia Tech the same year Bo Pelini was hired at Nebraska. His record there the last 7 years? 58-35. Bo Pelini was 67-27 over the same period and we fired him. I see no proof to argue that we'd have been better off had we hired Paul Johnson. Nobody would have even thought for a moment about hiring him if he didn't run the option. I don't see that as a good enough reason to hire a coach.
