Improvements at Hawks Field

They are replacing the video board at Hawks Field this spring. This is much needed as the other one was getting pretty outdated.

Wow!!!
You look at the video board...
and then look at the lights positioned in right field...
There's this optical illusion that the lights have been lowered.
But the video scoreboard it just that BIG!

Now reading the new scoreboard takes a little adjusting to.
Balls/Strikes/Outs are located in the lower right corner,
The rest is gravy.
Like, chicken fried steak and eggs country gravy.
The good stuff.

But the other interesting visual..
we got our radar gun display back,
on the left field board only, in the lower left corner.

Now the "pitch clock"....
I do not want that persons job!!!
Whoever operated it, did a decent job the first 5 or 6 innings.
But it was interesting to try and figure out resets.
Like a throw over to first, among other things.
Again, I do not envy the pitch clock operator.

But the new video board is awesome!

Just settled in for 7-ish hours of baseball. The new scoreboard in right field is indeed great. It’s really about the same size as the old one but the difference is that it’s all one big display. Replays will definitely be much improved with a much bigger screen.

There is one thing missing, though. There are no pennants on top. Those were always better at indicating the wind speed and direction than the left field flags.
