Who else, that was on the fence (or still in the Riley camp), has decided that it is over?

Hated Bo the person and was never onboard with Riley. When Riley was hired all i was expecting out of him was 3 or 4 seasons. I knew things wouldn't go well. I just wanted better talent on the roster when he left for the new coach.

I'm not surprised things have gone the way they have with Riley. I wanted Frost when he was the OC at Oregon. And he is showing at UCF why I wanted him when Riley was hired.

Ditto......

I’d like 2 more years of asskickings please.

Just do we can say we gave Riley a fair shake.

Also he won a trophy in Canada 20 years ago.

When Riley was hired, I was like WTF at first, but then thought that maybe he could be a fit here and gave him a chance. I have supported him and will continue to support him until he isn't our coach anymore. Tonight really bummed me out. I'm not sure why as we've lost a lot of big games the last few years, but tonight really hit me for some reason. Maybe it is the fact that this game means that a coaching change is inevitable again. I just want these guys to work out because I don't want another change. It just seems like a tall order. I need a beer.

I was excited for this season but after NIU I knew it was over. You don’t get teabagged by that team in your house if you’re making progress.

I wish they would have made it work but yeah this is a lame duck staff 5-7 is gonna get them canned and it will can this recruiting class.... this program is a bottom half big ten team. Abortion

I was behind the staff and expected a good year now that we had a "real QB". I thought the D may struggle, so I thought we would win some high scoring games. Was a Riliever until the NIU game. Then was on the fence. Now I'm done, a Rileaver. Next man up.

Ditto brother, I'm just tired

Maybe. But the two times we got the momentum back, the defense couldn't stop them.
Exactly. The offense only had 3 drives in the whole second half before POB came in. One drive was a 9 play drive that ate up almost 5 minutes that ended up stalling and then the defense gave up the 80 yard drive. The defense shouldn't have been gassed at that point, but couldn't get the ball back to the offense. They both had their issues tonight.

Nice guy, I was certainly rooting for him but it's time for a change. The whole nice guy routine was refreshing after having a pompous ass like Pelini, but we need to be competing for division titles every single year, not bowl berths. Scott has UCF humming right now in year 2. They won 0 games the year before he got there. In year 2, he's got them looking like the best in their conference. This should be the easiest coaching search since Tom promised Frank the job.

@4.6.3 .....I think you know my posting history with you to know this is not a flame at you. Just curious, do you think the MR era should come to an end? Also, I know you have had some posts that hit the sarcasm button pretty hard in regards to Frost. Where do you stand on both points now? Just curious.

I am in full support of hiring SF after this season, FTR. I have started to follow UCF pretty at the end of last season and this season. I think he is the real deal.....not because he went to NU, but because I think he is one hell of a coach and he just happened to go to NU.

What do you think?

I have said they ALL need to be fired. I honestly don't care if they hire Frost. Nobody else will get any support if it isn't him. Husker fans insist on jerking off in a circle, I say go for it. Bounds said the 90s is the standard, and that damn well better be remembered, year 1, game 1.

I like Riley for the man that he is, he is leading young men in the right way. I met him the spring after he was hired and was a nothing but a good man. Unfortunately in this business, it's about the W's and it looks like it's time for a change. We are spotty in being a complete, disciplined football team. This could be due to so much assistant turnover but you have to have your guys ready to go. We had the chance to be the alpha dog tied at 17 but failed to do so.

The sad part is that the schedule doesn't get any easier from here. Realistically from my POV, the second that Ohio State takes off on their airplane for Lincoln next week, they will 90% have already won the game. JT Barrett is overrated to me but they have so many more athletes. It will be a miracle if we win. At 3-4, that leaves us with having to go 3-2 against Penn State, Minnesota, Purdue, Iowa and Northwestern. Penn State will probably smoke us, and Iowa will laugh at us again and still beat our ass. We have to beat Minnesota, Purdue and Northwestern to even be 6-6.

Are we a horrible football team? No. But we're not very good, and that just doesn't cut it at Nebraska. We have boatloads of cash that we are going to need to pony up to get a young hot coach—Frost or not. We absolutely deserve better than not very good.

When Riley was hired, I knew there was a chance we would see a losing record, but 2 losing seasons in 3 years does not warrant a 4th year at Nebraska for me.

It is sad. Riley truly loves Nebraska. He worked long hours, no one doubted that. He gave us hope at times, mostly because of who he is and we wanted to hope for him, but looking back there was really nothing on the field other than two games in three years that show legitimate, ok we can do this, right on track hope.
I was very critical of Riley his first year. I thought a few of our losses were directly the result of coaching decisions, I still do. I also couldn't just brush off that terrible loss to Iowa.
But even after all that, I legitimately believed we had a shot at ten wins this year. Even after NIU, I thought we had a good shot of winning tonight and picked us to in my fun pools.
I guess it's because I'm a husker fan, but it's also because it would be nice if Riley did succeed. We see what we want to see, even if the truth is staring us in the face.
After NIU I thought Riley wasn't the guy, even if he got 8 wins if I had to predict will he ever win the west I would have said no but he deserves a chance to prove me wrong. I wanted him to prove me wrong. But I guess he never will.
We need to accept that it's possible to have a coach who loves NU and wins. It doesn't have to be bo pelini or mike Riley.
Here's to hoping we can manage a bowl game and Riley rides out into the sunset with a standing O.

Frost may or may not be the guy to hire. I don't know....I do hope they interview or try with others and do their due diligence to find the right guy.

But one thing I know for sure: he better be a serious candidate, and it isn't simply because he played here as the asshole coalition insists with all their butthurt and hate of Nebraska.

Parrella played here... and we were told he would pass that on to his players by "coaching them up". This ain't a upper Michigan juco, TC

You are just starting to sound like a sad broken robot.
I hope you get the help you need.

Ahh. Nothing to add but anger and insults. Not that I was expecting anything else. Carry on little fella.

Yeah! Join the circle jerk!

If we don’t hire Frost this year then LSU, Ole Miss or some other big time program will. And he will have tremendous success. Then we are stuck with Riley for a couple more years. At that point we hire some other outsider and the whole vicious circle continues. Hire Frost now. He has the best chance of returning us to prominence.

Maybe Frost is to his OC as Dan Hawkins was to his?

1. I don't know what to think of Parella after last night. Our defensive front 7 got mauled by a good, but not great, offensive line.

2. I just think it is obvious that no amount of coaching them up with proper technique can paper over the fact that they don't practice against a physical offensive line running a physical style offense.

3. I think Riley should be fired. I lean toward a Frost hire, but would be open to any coach with successful D1 experience.

4. Last night was a systemic, total team failure. Our defensive line is soft because they practice against a soft style of patty cake offense. Our offensive line woefully underachieves and are very poorly coached. We have not recruited a difference maker at running back and it shows. And our wide receivers are the most overrated and poorly coached group on the whole team. Not one of them can get separation consistently nor do they have good hands.

5. In short, our "football culture" at NU seems geared toward getting flashy skill position recruits to visit and talk Riley up, but not toward actually winning games.

6. I am tired of some on here trashing our fan base. Nobody on here is that superior. There is absolutely nothing wrong with preferring a power football approach over a pass first approach. It is a proven recipe for winning and it is our older tradition. So to call fans who want that style back naive and nostalgic is ignorant posturing by chat board Napoleans.

7. The black out was largely successful. The fans were loud and pumped. And they deserved a better product on the field. What I witnessed in the second half was a disgusting display of Calibraska style, patty-cake football. I think Riley would be good at fielding a flag football team. He needs to be sent packing.

there were butts in the stands last night. I'd say fan support is great, considering the product. i'll bet people will be pissed off if it's not Frost, but i'd guess people will show up for whoever's next.

at times I wonder if your just worn out from hearing unrealistic talk some fans may express in the 'cocoon of Nebraska' (every fandom has them) or if your just like being contrary.
