I blame Foley for a lot of stuff this year as well. I also have to give him credit as the special teams has improved a lot from earlier in the year.
That said do you think IGC was "coached" to do what he did? Or do you think he would tell you he knew better and made a bone headed decision and should've gotten out of the way and waved everyone off??
I'm pretty sure we know the answer to that. Again the players at some point have to do what they are supposed to. Bad thing is IGC is back their BECAUSE of his decisions. He's not gonna house a 75 yard PR. I could see if that had been the frosh Barney back their making that decision. But a guy with his experience absolutely without a doubt knows better and I guarantee you he would tell you the same thing yet he didn't do it....even tho he had all year long.
That's on on coaching????
Nah...
Holla
Good discussion as usual Dawg
I get your point on the players, and the play yesterday fits the narrative I have on Foley, absolutely
But this is seemingly the third Head Coach in a row to downplay special teams
The hidden yardage, coverage, and skill positions
I’ve said in other threads that the “standard” Rhule claims to have is a double standard when it comes to offense. Rhule even has admitted that in pressers. What is the standard on special teams?? All that standard stuff is on the coaches
Just about every single metric on special teams has had issues this year, if I were to chart it over 2 years how many games would have a failing grade in special teams? I’d say that Foley shares at least half the blame as the players in my opinion in that third phase
You can’t convince me that the third phase is/has been good Monday through Friday with what’s been out on the field
Uncle Ed can go eat a burger in West Point or whatever but can’t develop a unit on a developmental staff
He’s overpaid and underperforming
FWIW he’s paid as a top 10 Special Teams Coach which is unfathomable IMO
His unit lost another game and he is trending in that regard despite different players contributing to that trend in different games
