be a one-two punch more than any two Husker backs in some time. Ozigbo is a beast with all around capabilities and Wilborn can take it to the house on any play. Both appear to be a great fit for this offense in that they can both catch the ball well.

Nah I'm not forgetting about Newby but I think he loses his spot unless he starts running a lot harder, we all know he has too many runs where he gets stuffed and can't even gain a yard or two. That's why Cross became so valuable late last year. I think when it gets tough running in the big games Ozigbo is the back we turn to. Langs was talking about two back sets today, I can see Wilborn motioning out of the backfield and the D has no idea whether that is a diversion for Ozigbo or getting Wilborn out in space.

Nice, already reports out of Spring practice; of the young backs talents being even more pronounced. . Newby is a class act and talent; but you are right, if they get a leg, down he goes, ugh. At a critical point vs UCLA , they brought the TE Carter back around for a big running play. So with so much action passing planned; we will see more creative running game to punish D's that try to load the box. ... And remember a staple of a HCMR O; is too take shots long to keep a D honest; and burn them of course.

I can't wait till Osbourne comes back to consult. He will hire Jason Peters, Grant Winstrom, Todd Frazier, and Demon Bening.

On the serious side of the thread, looking forward too seeing our Sophomore backs shine this fall.
Still can't figure out why Adam Taylor hasn't made the playing field by now.

Comments from Benning led me to believe that psychologically and/or in terms of proprioception, he never made it back from that busted leg. Not uncommon to see with an athlete, they get a bad break on a leg like that and they just never get their muscle memory and confidence all the way back. Case in point, Matt Herrian.

That kind of time on crutches and in a boot can alter the fundamental processes in your cerebellum that operate how you move. It is very hard to un-learn a limp and to resume moving through space even normally, let alone like an elite athlete. And even if you conquer that, there's still the hurdle of being full confident taking contact again.

We already saw, in the little time he got last season, that Wilbon was a great runner. Somebody needs to ask Riley or RB coach how his pass blocking is coming along?

It wasn't just his pass blocking. He didn't know a good share of the offense such that it limited their ability to call audibles at the LOS if he was in the game. You basically would have to have sent him in the game and run the play that was called no matter how the defense lined up. That may be ok against the University of South Dakota but that won't cut it in the B1G.

See, this is where I have a question - where do you get the label of "great" from a handful of carries early in the year? He may be good but to crown him GREAT seems a bit far fetched right now but if it makes people feel better......... It wasn't just pass protection, it was grasping all of the intricate pieces of the offense, reading coverages, blitzes, assignments, etc. If all a back had to do is take the hand-off and run then it would be a much simpler game but it doesn't work that way aside from a few people's minds. To think that Riley was so stubborn to go 6-7 with a "great" back just sitting on the bench.............. he should be fired.

Come on man. We have false narratives to try and support!!!

Cross is out of eligibility

Eek Not sure which part of that (now deleted post) is harder to stomach. The not realizing Cross was done last year or the part (if he was back) of putting him behind two unproven backs based on how he finished last year?????
