Rhule deserves to be fired, he probably wont but he would have had 10 tries to get to a 6th win and failed. 6-6 with a bowl and some staff changes would keep him safe but have some well deserved heat.

He signed an 8 year contract, he's not getting fired anytime soon, unless we have like a 2-10 type season next year. But hopefully he brings in an entirely new offensive staff next season.
Something needs to change on the defensive side also.
The AD who gave Rhule an 8-year contract loves Dear ol' Nebraska U more than life itself, and by gawd they're both in it for the long haul.

I kinda of expect them to lose out. What I witnessed against Indiana. And even In majority of the wins. I just don't see them winning anymore. Maybe UCLA. But I doubt it. They play hard and NU folds when it gets punched in the mouth. No way they beat the "juggernauts of Iowa and Wisconsin"
I am leaning towards not watching another NU game until they qualify for a bowl. Watching for the last 7+ years has not helped them or me. I woke up in the middle of the night last night and couldn't go back to sleep because I am so disgusted with the staff and team. I would be happier if NU just gave up football then watching this annual fall shit show.

In other words, after year 2, there needs to be changes in all three phases of the game in order to be competitive. That's a strong indictment against a CEO head coach like Rhule.
Yes. This is indeed an indictment if, due to your mismanagement in years 1 and 2 you are needing to start over in year 3

In regards to TW - jury is out. Our LBs are grossly undersized for this league. I am very very concerned about the defense next year. We lose a lot of veteran guys on what appears to be a defense that has regressed from last year

It’ll be interesting if TW will adopt a more conventional 4-3 defense. I think the days of running a 3-4 or 3-3-5 will be done once Ty and Nash leave.

If he does make it to the later years of his contract, he’d be a relative bargain compared to what coaches will be payed by then.

The secondary might have played the worst game in recent Husker history. And let's be honest, that means it might have been the worst game in all of Husker history. Didn't Hill and Wright give up something like 13 of 15 completions with one drop for 100+ yards? And those are our best guys? The guys playing deep single high safety missed more tackles than they made.

I stood in practice and thought to myself, how are these guys going to cover Big 10 receivers? We are very small on the backend. A lot of them look like they should have been playing in TO's wingback position.
What's weird is husker receivers get covered by smaller dbs all the time yet dont get much separation.
The Nebraska way is the first year that shows any promise you re-up his contract give him a huge buyout again.
And some of the throws were put in a spot where the DB could do nothing.
Of course, NU did hurt their QB and now he had surgery and is out for awhile.
