7-5 a success?

Why stop at 7... End the season with a bowl win and a three game winning streak. 8-5. I thought NU was an 8-9 win team. The 4 game skid was not in cards. In the history books, an 8 win season looks good.
Did we beat a top 30 team? Til like the 80’s and 90’s with our pancake schedule

I predicted 8-4 preseason.

From that standpoint it has not been a successful season. Two best wins are against Colorado and Wisconsin. Illinois and UCLA were the duds. I’d say this year is the Season we should have had last year.

We did beat Wisconsin and become Bowl Eligible so I have to say I’m very happy it was a mild success. 8-5 is the best outcome obviously. 7-6 is ok, 6-7 would not be good.

Overall I think the program is a year behind but trending upward. Just keep bring more talent here and I really like DH as OC. I think next year we’ll see alot of guys with a lot of speed on both sides of the ball.

Yeah a bowl win would be nice, but I'm afraid it'll be pretty meaningless in this day and age. So much opting out by the best players and "you could tell they didn't want to be there" by the best teams. We'll have to get incredibly with whatever team we draw for it to mean much of anything

I like our chances against whoever we draw in a bowl because I don’t think we’re gonna have any opting out and it’s been so long. I think the players are gonna want to be there.

Yeah I agree wholeheartedly. Was referring to the opponent. Lots of entitled SEC teams think they’re too good to be in a mid level bowl, so they always play that card when they go and get beat. Then the fact that if whoever they are has any potential draft picks, those guys possibly sit it out. So, they have that excuse. But you’re right, neither of those will be us and a win will feel great from our standpoint which is all that matters

If SEC was truly as great as they want you to believe, none of that would matter and they would still win those games. But they often don’t.

I'm happy right now. Do I want more, sure. This season has only reminded me how heavy the anchor has been hanging around the neck of this program. Yesterday was hopefully the exorcism. I'd be effin ecstatic if we beat Iowa, and can't wait to watch the Huskers in a bowl game.

No I wouldn't consider it a success, not even close. 7-5 is Iowa standard, it should not be the standard for this program.

A 7-5 season is a small step forward but is NOT considered a success. I don't think too many Husker fans will truly feel we have a successful season until we win more close games than we lose. Going 0-4 in one score games in a single season can never end up being a "success" unless those 4 losses are all to legitimate top 10 teams.

Agreed. 3-5 in the conference is pretty "ewww.' We need to win Friday. But, I'm still happy this week.
