If the rumors from the 90’s were true ….

TO’s fingerprints are all over making Nebraska the greatest in college football history and they are all over making Nebraska one of the worst in college today.
I believe with Frost’s failure that Tom may try to influence the next hire but it will fall on deaf ears.

Single biggest mistake in the history of Nebraska football was not hiring Mack Brown when the program had the opportunity. Good man, great recruiter and has improved each program and won at every stop in his long career.
Biggest mistakes since Osborne:

1) Steve Pederson throwing away our identity. We have never regained it. He was right about our recruiting issues, but sacrificing our identity was unnecessary.
2) Osborne anointing Solich instead of AD hiring Mack Brown, as was desired. Cronyism was our original sin.
3) Firing Solich in a 9 win season. If it wasn’t going to be done in 2002’s disaster, he should have had a real chance with his new staff.
4) Firing Pelini after a 9 win season. He had major problems to be sure, but we should have tried to work with him more, especially if all we had was Mike Riley to take his place.
5) Not allowing Callahan a chance with a new DC. He had the offense and recruiting down.
6) Giving Frost a meritless extension
7) Firing Frost in September 2022 instead of November 2021.
8) Hiring Mike Riley. What were they thinking? What a waste of a hire.
9) That new entry video for the team that was created by Steve Pederson. You know, with the female drill sergeant. Tragic.
10) Not reigning in Pelini sooner. The guy had potential but came to think he could do as he pleased, and to hell with recruiting and the fans.

Man we were trying to work with Pelini. Tom had tried multiple times and the rumor was that at one point Bo was taking medication to try to control his emotions on game days. He’s just an extremely volatile guy.
