IF, IF Miles is canned......

Crean has made a Final Four and has won 2 Big Ten championships and made 3 Sweet Sixteens in the past 6 years....and people think he's not good enough for Nebrasketball? Let's be realistic here. He's won like 10 more NCAA tournament games than every other coach in our program's history combined.

OK I should have said couldn't win "enough" at a school with tremendous tradition and in a talent hot bed. AND the guy some want gone beat him IN INDIANA this year with the "chicken ####" offense that he runs. Something doesn't make sense here.

No! Jeezus people, have at least a little pride.

PRIDE. a feeling or deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one's own achievements, the achievements of those with whom one is closely associated, or from qualities or possessions that are widely admired

Yah. Got none.

Yet Indiana also beat North Carolina and Kansas this year, so by that logic he's a better coach than Roy Williams and Bill Self? Of course not, but if you look at the big picture, Indiana was the biggest dumpster fire in college basketball when he took over (he literally had zero scholarship players and NCAA sanctions) and he made them respectable again in 4 years. If Mike Riley were to win 2 conference championships here after what he inherited, people would build him a statue. And at least Crean's less-than-great seasons can be partially blamed on losing a lot of talented guys early to the NBA (Zeller, Oladipo, Vonleh). That's not even to mention what he accomplished at Marquette, going to a Final Four when they were still in the C-USA, and then maintaining that success while transitioning into a much tougher Big East Conference. In fact, Crean was the main reason Marquette got invited into the Big East.

Crean would not be my first choice, I don't think he's an elite coach and he lost momentum at Indiana - but his resume blows every other coach we've ever had out of the water. Crean will get much better offers than Nebraska a year from now if he sits out.

If the cavs get bounced early in playoffs I think T. Lue is toast. Completely mismanaged the roster this year, showed complete lack of creativity and played Lebron the most minutes in the league, which should be an automatic firing when you have two all stars on the roster. So he will be available...and could boost recruiting. Coaches who get fired under lebron rarely find other jobs in the NBA...

I wouldn't hold your breath.

Lebron loves Ty Lue. He isn't going anywhere, I would not be surprised to see Lue coach Lebron for the rest of his career.

For the record, unless something sinister goes down between now and October, Miles isn't going anywhere before next season.

Next, Nebraska can throw as much money as it wants at a coach, but one coming off a championship game appearance isn't coming here. We have to be realistic.

Third, if Eichorst decides to let Miles go after next season, the list of replacements will include head coaches at smaller schools, head coaches at bigger schools with small budgets and a lack of facilities or commitment to basketball, and assistant coaches from P5 programs.

Unail someone comes in here and developes a program with any sort of consistent winning tradition, that will be your hiring pool. The sooner we realize the Fred Hoibergs of the world aren't coming here, the better.

You guys must not follow hoops at all writing stuff like that. Creen's a year removed from a Big championship.

Please excuse this silly person. He wasn't named our village idiot, but he placed.

If it were me tje first call would be to throw a $3M offer to Mark Few.
If Few had any interest in leaving Gonzaga for the Big Ten, he would have been announced as Indiana's new coach the day after the championship game. No disrespect to Archie Miller, but holding that seat open another week to get Few would have been a no-brainer.

Three million would not get his attention. Few will not leave

Few was not on their list. He is not leaving Gonzaga anyway. If he were to go it would take more than 3 million.

I'm not suggesting Few was on Indiana's list. But if they thought throwing $3 million at him could pull him out of Spokane and into the Big Ten, he certainly would have been.

Few is not going to leave Gonzaga. The Zags have created their own quirky little world in Spokane. Lots of former players stick around. The university provides them with everything the coaches and players need. Who the Huskers need to go after is not Few but his top assistant Tommy Lloyd. He's the one assistant that has brought foreign players like Karnowski, Sabonis and Tillie to Gonzaga.

I wouldn't want to see Crean either. He seems like a nut job to me.

PS Skiing was great today. I see Lincoln was 77 today. Up on our mountain it was 22 degrees with 4-6 inches of new snow this morning. It got pretty soft and beat up by noon but those first few hours were epic.
