If Frost says no, then should the next coach be a retread with previous head coach experience, who never got the ring, or an associate coach somewhere with energy and wants to make a name?

Associate coaches who became a first time head coach: Osborne, Frost, Swinney, Patterson, and Stoops to name a few.

Why are these the only options? I don't think we will hire an assistant coach or a "retread".

If we go the assistant route, I'd be ok with Joe Moorhead. He does have some head-coaching experience at the FCS level (turned Fordham around).

I agree. As fa as assistant coaches go, Pruitt and Venables are the most popular names, but I think Moorehead is going to be a great head coach.

"NU isn't a place where you go to cut your teeth". That was a statement by someone on this board years ago, addressing Pelini as our coach. It's a true fact for every other blue-blood program and should be for ours.

Oklahoma, USC, and Clemson don't seem to agree

Chip Kelly

I'm pretty certain that Bob Stoops had zero head coaching experience when he was hired at Oklahoma for the 1999 season. Seemed to work out pretty well for Oklahoma.

I don't think Osborne had any head coaching experience either when hired. Seemed to work out pretty well for Nebraska.

If we don't have one of these what if Scott says no threads posted every other day, what then?! OP might want to check these out:

Hold your tongue!!!!

Moved my entire IRA portfolio into beer distribution companies this week. Can't lose.

Scott Frost is hired, mass celebration, sales spike.
Scott Frost is not hired, mass depression, sales spike.

See you on the beach.
Absolutely brilliant. Make sure and our a ton of dough on whoever drinks Busch Light

Lol Frost is the topic these days. This place will clear out in 2 weeks

I'd be ok with Dan Mullen, Ken Niumatololo or Moorehead (not necessarily in that order). I think all 3 would be realistic options...if somehow not Frost and Florida doesn't hire Chip Kelly, I hope we do everything we can to convince him to come to Lincoln

Moorhead is the guy my nephew, who has a master's in sports management and interned with the Seahawks, thinks the Huskers should go after. My nephew is a Husky fan, but because of me he has always been aware of the Huskers. He thinks Moorhead has a pretty good offensive scheme. Obviously he would need a good DC. My nephew did work for U Dub too and was telling me what a train wreck Sarkisian was long before his meltdown at USC . He probably will be available, too.

If he says no...kiss NU football goodbye....it will be lost forever and if you don't understand that...you don't know NU football...

campbell
fuente
mullen
leach

that's where i would start. i dont think we can get Peterson.

What exactly makes Frost some savior? I see a lot of people saying things like it's him or bust, the program will fail without him, he's the only one who understands, etc.

I just don't get why all is lost if Nebraska doesn't manage to get Frost..

i think it's more like this place is toxic/you cant win here if we cant even get our natty title winning qb to come back.
