Than finish 8-4 or 7-5 & lose to those clowns again. I don't care how we win, what the final score is, etc. I just want to see my team beat Wisconsin!

#^$k Wisconsin!!

If we finish 3 - 9, we're in deep trouble.

Now, there are quite a few Husker fans that believe losing by a TD or less is the same as a win, so they might have a different opinion than me.

Right and that goes the other way as well, some of you guys winning by 3 points is the samething as getting blown out. I know apple and oranges but i remember the Ravens that year never looked good and found away to win. End of the day, i dont care if we beat Purdue by 1 point or we blow out MSU by 27. As long as it has that W at the end of the game, i good to go and its next team up.

I've never understood making one game that important and certainly not in this case. How anybody would think going 3-9(heaven forbid) and beating Wisconsin would be better than going 7-5 or 8-4 and losing to Wisconsin is totally beyond my comprehension. Makes not one bit of sense.

I would rather have the W against Iowah. That's always the must win game IMO
Can't go a whole year with a loss to Iowah hanging over our heads, it's embarrassing.

So yeah, I would rather have the 8 wins and beat the Iowah Steelers.
You can have Wisconsin and 3-9

well something is wrong when you only beat purdue by 1 point :p

I think the fans who believe that actually feel that a loss by a TD or less feels much better than losing by 20+.

As in, a loss is a loss and a win is a win, but how you win or lose those games make a huge difference in how you feel about the team. Example; you may feel better about your team if you lose to this years Ohio State by 7 than if you only beat this years Kansas by 7.

That's what sucks. We got our ass kicked all over the field so many times these last few years, a 7 point loss is starting to feel like a win.

I am certain he was using hyperbole to stress how much he hates Wisconsin.

Amazing how things have changed. In the mid-late 90's if we didn't win by 4 touchdowns it felt like a loss. Now losing by a touchdown feels like a win.

I'll respond and I won't take it to the extreme. This post will be of the same mindset as my first post. I'm mostly a "win-is-a-win" guy. Given my druthers I'd rather win by more and (if we have to lose) lose by less. This year's losses to BYU and Miami are losses, I take no encouragement from that, they're losses. Now, to keep others from going extreme, "no" I don't like Wisconsin or any other team blowing us out/embarrassing us.

There are people who don't like close wins versus over-matched opponents. I would suppose the 1997 Missouri game kept us from being unanimous Nat'l Champs (or at least figured into the equation).

This doesn't apply anymore. A win isn't a win and a loss isn't a loss. Teams will make it in, or be left out, based in large part how they win / lose (See BIG Championship last year: if OSU wins by 7, no chance they make it in the final 4).

I already said I would prefer to win by more and lose by less. Any argument framed around wins and losses has some circumstantial aspect to it. But, I would still say a "win-is-a-win". And Florida State goes undefeated and makes it into the playoff, in some games that many (including myself) thought were too close for the amount of respect being given to FSU. For FSU a win was win. For Baylor and TCU, a loss was a loss. Now, I would guess some would want to argue OhSU versus the other one loss playoff contenders. It's all a what-if game, my opinion if Baylor or TCU go undefeated with a 1-point victory in some games, then they go to the playoff.

I'm assuming OP was being overly dramatic to get his post across. If not, I'd imagine he would be calling for MRs job at the end of the year, as many fans would be with that record.

If we finish 3-9 we won't beat Wisconsin in the first place. Always will want to win as many games as possible regardless who we beat.
