I was actually encouraged after yesterday's game. If that first interception isn't deflected off a helmet, we are probably ahead in the 3rd quarter and if that late pass is a couple inches higher, we may have won. Yes, I'm an optimist, but we are panicking rather than looking at the promise the team and the coaches are showing. I'm one of the old dogs that has seen the good and the bad and still sees the two 6-4 seasons in '67 and '68 as the dark years (at least until we hired Callahan), but overall this is a good coaching staff that has an effective recruiting plan and we are beginning to see progress on the field. Next week is likely to be tough again, but I believe we should stay the course. Don't create a self fulfilling prophesy and then blame someone else when we condemn ourselves to more years of failure. I want to win and our best chance to win in the next few years is to give Riley a chance.
