I generally HATE OU, but…

All I know is there multiple reason why Nebraska, CU, Texas A&M, and Missouri bailed on the BIG12 and why TX, OU decided to leave the old BIG12 that is in shambles, it was a hot mess. Nebraska was not the first University to bail on Texas and the old SWC, Arkansas got out while the getting was good and went to the SEC and was better for it financially.

Hookem is a fan of Texas and I understand that but he must understand going forward Texas is not bigger than the SEC conference at least I hope he knows. The merging of teams to new conferences are done purely for financial reasons and to get away from cancerous relationships within conference head quarters.

Let's hope Texas has learned her lesson and will be a good member of a very solid conference and if she's good the rest of the conference will learn to respect her. It's taken Nebraska over a decade to learn this lesson and we finally got an AD and HC to understand we are not bigger than the BIG, but rather a proud member.

Nebraska still has to work on building it's standing in the BIG but I believe Nebraska is starting to do just that. Good luck Hookem in your new home.
That's the thing I love most about going to the SEC is we're just one of many and we won't be able to push other schools around like Dodds did in the Big 12. Thankfully we have a great athletic director now that knows how to play well with others at least I hope that's the case.
I'm still pissed about losing what was turning out to be an incredible rivalry we were building with Nebraska in many sports, especially baseball.

I know we didn't play well with others in the Big 12 and that was the main reason I hated dodds so much.

Appreciate the well wishes.

I look forward to the day when we can play each other again on a neutral bowl game field. Good luck!

There is one second left when colts ball hit the ground you can go back and see that for yourself.

You still haven't answered my question. Was it corrupt?
Do I think we would have been given one second had we not been playing for the national championship? Probably not. it's hard to know what's going on in people's head but I can accept that it's possible we would have not been given that second back. The difference between you and I though that I can admit it.

There are plenty of reasons to hate Texas for the way our administration acted in those days and I don't refute any of that. I just laugh when people to make shit up like the longhorn network destroying the conference when your own school voted in favor of allowing us to do it.
Nebraska left because we were toying with the idea of moving to the pac-12 and I don't blame Nebraska one bit for leaving. **** deloss dodds
I was there. Clock was 0, ball still in the air.

100% wrong

Ancient history it doesn't matter anymore but there was one second left. The question was never was there one second left. The question has always been would they put that one second back on the clock if it was Nebraska rather than Texas and I'm not too proud to admit that there's a good chance they wouldn't have....which goes back to the officiating issues that we all complain about.

That being said I don't want to put this to bed without giving props so Suh because that was the most dominating individual defensive performance I've ever seen in person in my life. He made our offensive line look like a bunch of high school kids.

..but back to the issue... conferences should not control the officials when there's so much money on the line to get a team into the playoffs.

Tough to respect Oklahoma when in 94, Duckin Donnie Duncan and the rest of the OU brass decided to turn their backs on one of the greatest rivalries in the sport, while Nebraska begged to keep the annual series intact... Guess you cant blame them, they had to do what they had to do.. Their program was in the crapper while Nebraska was on top, and they wanted to do what was in their best interest in terms of revenue... Fast forward years later when Nebraska tried to cancel the matchup to grab another home game in 2021 after the covid season, Nebraska never heard the end of it.....

the ou loss was interesting at least for b12 folks to watch unfold. hilarious, actually. 5* freshman qb turns it over like he's flippin' pancakes at a cyo breakfast. defense covers like a sieve holding water. coaches look like 12-year-olds leaving their first horror movie. and now the red dirt dandies are limping to the sec after running off their star quarterback. good grief.

We're definitely jumping out of the frying pan into the fire in the SEC. Not only are we going to be just another two schools but the intensity level in that conference versus the Big 12 is not in the same stratosphere. We're going to find out what we're made of next season for sure.

texas is way more qualified than ou. way better roster and coaching. more money. texas is my pick to win the cfp. good for them and k-state's balance sheet too. hook 'em.

Man I wish I had your confidence but Washington is a terrible matchup for us. If we can somehow get past them I like our chances but Washington is the one team I fear the most going in. They can attack our weakness.

strength on strength. their o v. texas's bad ass defense. even with some weakness on the texas backside, i don't see washington keeping up with the horns. hook'em.

My biggest beef with texass is in 1970 Nebraska was the true National Champion..

Haha you are opening a can of worms there aren't you? You definitely had a great team that year though. You probably did have the best team.

OU is an arrogant program with an even more arrogant fanbase. F them and glad when they lose. The only time I’d root for OU is when they play Texas because I absolutely hate the Longhorns.

We had more of a right to be National champions in 1983 than texass did in 1970..

If the UPI voted before the bowl game that year Nebraska went wire to wire until the missed two point conversion..ND beat the whorns convincingly 24-11..

Should be ashamed claiming something you didn’t earn..

I don't claim anything and I don't have any of control over what the school claims. If you look hard enough you can find controversy in almost every season before the playoffs. as much as I bag on how the playoffs have ruined the bowl games it probably is a better system if we truly do want to know who the best team is at the end of the year.

Back to the Alamo bowl for a minute... There's been some speculation among OU fans that they pushed out Gabriel to make way for their new star QB. I'm not sure that's true, but if it is, I wonder what they're thinking now.

Sounds like an excuse to me. That would be as stupid as us running off ewers so arch can play next year

Unfortunately, there was no playoff at the time to settle the matter on the field.

The season had plenty of games on the field with the top 6 teams against each other ..
Nebraska tied #3 USC 21-21
USC beat #3 Notre Dame
Notre Dame beat #7 LSU 3-0
Notre Dame #6 beat texass in the cotton
Nebraska #3 beat #5 LSU in the Orange
Ohio St #2 lost to Stanford in the Rose 27-17..

If Missouri can go 10-2 as a member of the SEC, Texas and Oklahoma should be able to compete for the conference championship.

Yeah I was referring more to the fan support and intensity of the environments. The SEC isn't the juggernaut that their fans like to think it is outside of the top few teams.

Even though I and other posters have indicated their angst against UT, I give the Longhorns credit after we beat them in the 1999 Big 12 Championship in San Antonio.

Even though Bevo took a dump in our endzone as we were approaching to score, the UT guys did pick it up...but they didn't use soap and water!!! One UT fan shouted, "its only ground-up corn!!!"

After the game we went to a Tex Mex restaurant and I couldn't believe how many Longhorn fans came up to me and other Husker fans and congratulated us on having a great team. It was Eric Crouch who won the day with his short side runs.

Of course I went to another game in Austin where UT beat us pretty good on an 100 degree day in October and one of their fans shouted to me as I was headed back to DFW, "take I-35 North!!! He was not educated enough to know that I 35 doesn't go through Nebraska.

UT fans love their team as much as Husker fans do. When we have mankind refereeing games, things will go haywire quickly. Hope you guys do well in the SEC, Missouri has.

Yeah you have to be able to separate internet fans from real fans. it's easy for people to be a jackass online but I've never met a Nebraska fan in person that was anything but great to me and my family on my trips up there and I will forever root for Nebraska because of it.
