The offense is in shambles and one of the worst in the nation. The head coach did what a CEO should do; identify the weakness and correct it.

DH is not an unknown commodity, he has a proven track record of developing QBs and his offenses were constantly in the top 15 of the nation. (This should have happened the last bye week)

Where is the downside? Rhule wants the seniors to go out with a winning record and give them something they have not experienced... A bowl game!! If you see this as a panic move or a bush league move, you need to open your mind to a coach doing what is necessary to correct problems before the complete implosion. Satterfield was not working and Rhule got fed up with him not calling the game plan

I salute Rhule for making the move and hiring a proven winner 🏆.

Who's spewing vitriol about DH? Any negativity I've seen is directed firmly at HCMR for getting us into this situation to begin with. Which is very fair. For what we're paying him and for what we've been sold by him, it's pretty reasonable for fans to be a little salty about having wasted the last 1 ¾ years while Rhule has sold us a bag of crap. I think most, if not all of us are very happy about getting OCDH.

You’re thinking of one person, maybe two. It’s not widespread

Getting us into this situation? Seriously? We've been in this situation long before Coach Rhule got here.

We can look up hours of low lights as evidence. An offensive lineman falling on his ass presnap. A Wisconsin RB rushing for over 400 yards and sitting out the 4th quarter. An onside kick while up 11 points. Punting a line drive to Jayden Reed who ran in a straight line to the end zone. Multiple punts for negative yardage. I'll leave it at that, but others can add to the list if they wish. It's a long list.

I was talking about the Satt hire. It was a bad hire. It was very well documented from day 1. Everyone outside of Rhule seemed to know it.

I expect our offense to struggle Saturday and the usual suspects to lose their mind because they expected the greatest show on turf after Dana had 8-9 practices with the offense🙄

I salute Rhule for making the change as well and I'm not giving up hope he can turn this ship around. However, the decisions to bring Satterfield onboard in the first place at a top 10 OC salary and Jeff Sims last year when there were no other proven FBS quarterbacks on the roster, coupled with watching the top recruit in a generation regress under the tutelage of his staff in year two have proven to be big setbacks in his rebuild of DONU that have squandered alot of the early goodwill and benefit of the doubt he was going to get from the fan base. Not alot of room for any more big swing and misses.

And I expect the usual suspects to keep polishing the Nebraska football turd and somehow justifying it all and telling posters they're trolls and Iowa fans for expressing their disappointment🙄

See, it works both ways

Satterfield did a pretty good job for him at Temple. Clearly mistakes were made but he’s correcting them on the fly. Who was the last head coach we had willing to dump a buddy. Answer: nobody.

Rhule tried like hell to bring in Peetz to assist Satt and coach QBs but the whole Mickey debacle screwed that up. Then last winter he tried to bring Dana on board but ended up with Thomas. Some of this was out of Rhule’s control. Hopefully this fixes our offensive issues by NEXT fall. Anybody expecting immediate results I’m afraid will be disappointed.

I haven’t seen anybody polishing the turd this year. Some of us didn’t buy in to the hype after watching the UNI game.

Pretty sure people dingle, Pennsy, Baxter48 and Headcard and HBK4life can figure who the real trolls are..

Sorry you’re having a hard time with it..

^^^^^THIS! 100% us fans like to lash out but when you take a 10k foot view, step back and breath for a moment you quickly realize what happened... I'll also add that there was momentum heading into the season with the offense with Dylan and what appeared to be some high profile WRs would that have been a good time to fire an OC??? some folks need to take a deep breath

Yeah. But we are still the same nearly two seasons into the tenure of HCMR. Every fan, the AD who hired him, and the current AD have expectations that HCMR will move us in a positive direction. We expected to see signs of improvement by this time, and there are none.

We are not cursed. We just haven’t found the right coach.

And DH might being doing it with a running QB. He is a tough, gutty player who I have plenty of respect for but he has his limitations. DH also has to take on this immediate task with a below average OL. All of our expectations need to be very realistic(low).

Because it’s something new to talk about. Letting Satt call the plays for the remainder of the three weeks would just increase apathy even more. Letting DH call plays at least keeps people intrigued.

A) There are those that think the head coach is currently fixing things and showing leadership to make a change.

B) Then there are those that think the head coach knew that Satt was not a great OC from the get go, but hired him anyway.

Then he brings in another OC as a bit of a half measure to help his buddy Satt

And only NOW late in the season with someone in the Administration who shoved a big foot up his backside, is now making an unprecedented move with 3 games left to play.

The reality is, Rhule never would have made this change like this on his own. This is being forced on him to do something.

Something he should have rectified a long time ago, but he kept giving it half measures.

Don't even get me started on the Running backs coach, or Offensive line coach, or the Special Teams coach.

Matt Rhule has been an utter failure with everything, except his golden tongue and some of the recruits that he has gotten.

I love the sentiment OP, but you realize you just started another multi-page thread hashing out the same argument with the same 3-4 posters regurgitating the same vitriol on the same topic? You're not going to sway them from their mission to shit on everything Matt Rhule says or does because they've made up their minds. They don't care about Nebraska succeeding, they just want to win the message board.

We had Holgerson in North Stadium this past January

Rhule had a chance to make an actually tough decision and punted

Now we are swooning and he pressed the easy button to take the heat off for the remainder of the year

Who knows what this means for 2025 and beyond, but none of it will be on Dana who is a good football guy and might help.

The issues with this team, I believe, are deeper than X’s and O’s, although Satt did suck righteous amounts of ass at that, too.

Don't let McGuire off the hook, he deserves to be chastised with the rest of those on your list.

Some fans would complain about the taxes they would pay, rather than be happy about the super lottery they just won.

I think Dean summed it up nicely - we have been bad for a long time now. It's been terrible combinations of bad coaching and low talent level including, but not limited to:
(A) Sub-par recruiting and unable to develop and get the most out of players.
(B) Patches of adequate recruiting, but then terrible coaching and schemes also not getting the most out of players.

The result is the typical "damned if you do, damned if you don't" attitude at this point from a portion of the fan base.

Like I said in another thread. Very difficult, almost impossible, to totally overhaul an offense mid-season. I think our hopes and expectations should be seeing some improvement in some key areas and maybe get a win or 2. Anyone thinking DH is gonna come in and we’re gonna magically go 3-0 and score 40 a game is delusional.

But we know, if they look like shit on Saturday (very possible) certain people will act like the DH hire was failure and all hope is lost. Adjust your expectations people, we may still go 0-3, but that won’t necessarily mean this was the wrong move.

this is exactly right

Rhule said yesterday that this is a move to "win now" and it's "not for next year"

which is exactly why I believe it is a move for next year and beyond, this November be damned

Judging by your posts, there's really nothing Rhule can do that will please you. Same with Trev Alberts. It seems like you are rooting against them.
