How do you (or others on this board) respond?

Do you think the naysayers will come out of hiding to talk about how this is the same unit as last year?

Do you think reasonable people will step up and explain that this team wasn't perfect, had to deal with injuries and it's just a road loss against a pretty good Indiana team?

Of course, let's hope we don't have to deal with this hypothetical, but I, for one, will not let one game distract my attention from what I see as good progress in the right direction from this team and coaching staff.

Why bring this up, because you like jinxing us?

What will happen is people will be pissed off and there will be a bunch of 'state of the program' type threads. Lot of comments on Banker not being the right guy. People will worry about the Cali recruits. I will yell the f word 1000 times.

Monday will show up and we will learn that Westy and Carter will be back for wisconsin and then we go to Madison and kick some tail. And the cycle continues......

Win or lose, people will bitch.

If NU wins, they didnt run enough, pass enough, tackle enough, the punt avg was too low, Langsdorf calledthis but shouldve called this, Tommy threw a pick so his 400 yards of offense dont matter, DPE is underused and our ST coach sucks, Nebraska has fallen way off because they beat indiana in 1952 and lost in 2017, HCMR clubs baby seals, etc

If NU loses, people will gripe about all of the above as well.

People who freak out if we lose are idiots. Nothing more to say.

Someone will likely make some ridiculous analogy like NC State losing a number of games on the way to the 1983 national championship or a Bob Beamon world record long jump reference .. wouldn't be surprised to see any number of stupid gifs as well

If we play a decent game and lose no problem - If the defense gets absolutely torched or the offense regresses and has a bunch of turnovers then the rest of the season looks tough imo

Personally I think there are some posters that just sit back & wait for us to lose. Then they can pounce.
Of course there are...
We have the fans that are jocking up Indiana as some team on the rise (that has won I think 4 conference games in the last 3 seasons)

We have other fans that are waiting for the Huskers to get beat...so they can say "I told you so"

This team should beat Indiana by 14 points, this game should be basically like the NW game.

Yep!

They are already getting jocked up by so many Husker fans.
Yet if we do win convincingly we'll here how Indiana isn't a very good team (which means we're not that great of a team) and that it's not a quality win.

They are not a good team. Nebraska will win this game with ease. It is not going to be a quality win it will just be another win for the Huskers to pad their resume and crack into the top 7 or 8 after this week. Indiana will probably win 3 more games all year and that is if they can beat MD.

Hypothetically, I think we beat Indiana and get to ride high for another week. Which will be followed by a hypothetical what if we lose to Purdue thread.

All kidding aside, of course there will be people posting on here. As for me, I don't know, I guess it'll depend on how the game plays out. This is a game we should win. So, I'll plan for a win, no reason to make excuses before the game has even been played.

I won't be saying Indiana isn't any good that is for sure they can be tough at home.

I get the feeling we're going to dismantle them as well.

I won't complain about a win, no matter the margin. IU has a decent team so as long as the Huskers walk away with that W, it's all good. That being said, this is a must-win game with tougher matchups on the horizon

we're gonna lose a couple this year anyway...they'll get their day...We'll lose a game every year, more often than not, so I guess I maybe miss their point.

ISU jumped up and bit us once a decade with Oz so stuff happens.

Trends matter.

This team gets bowl eligible at the earliest chance this season possible,They are going to surprise people with how hungry they are to put that to bed.

Why speculate? It will happen and sooner rather than later. We will lose to someone we should not in some people's minds. It is not a question of if, it is when.

indiana is ok... do i think we'll lose? no i don't. would i be shocked? also no.

if we don't show up they'll win. if we are even or better on turnovers we win. not much else to it. tommy has a pretty good history against average or worse teams on turnovers so i think we'll be ok.

sounds simplistic but eh... i think people are overthinking things and need to enjoy where we're at a bit more.

Hints?
I wasn't hinting at it at all. I was saying that we have a lot of fans jocking up Indiana.

Hints is the wrong way of saying it. Your response portrayed "the fans" are doing something nobody else is which was my point of bringing the media in to it.

It's not just "the fans", that's the point.

I can see them beating us badly in bball. but the players know football is another matter.

I see the game as a 50-50 proposition already, so if we lose, it won't be completely unexpected. We are a decent team, but not a Top 10 team in talent and ability IMO, so I fully expect us to lose 3 of the next 7.

Sooooo, you think we might lose and wish to stave off any criticism. There will always be criticism, even in a win.

We could very well lose. The combined records of our opponents is 13-20. Oregon has lost their last 4 and Indiana has a win over Michigan St., who, while still a good team, isn't as dominant since losing their DC. Also, Indiana played arguably the best team in the country last week and I thought they looked pretty good.

While we are undefeated going into this game, it's still hard to tell how good we are since our only opponent with a winning record is Wyoming.

I picked us to lose this game before the season started. I will consider a win tomorrow, a good win.

Fresno State....1-5
Wyoming..........4-2
Oregon.............2-4
NorthWestern...2-3
Illinois...............1-4
Indiana.............3-2

If they play us like they did Ohio St last weekend it will be a very tough game.

We don't know that yet. If they finish the season with only 2 more losses (Nebraska and Michigan) then they will be considered a pretty solid team in my opinion. Therefore it would be a good win over a quality appointment.

Now if they drop 4 more games then yes, Indiana wouldn't be a very quality opponent.

We know it. The best they end up this year is 8 wins and that is pushing it and no one here thinks 8 wins is solid.

Each individual controls their own emotions, one can let it get the best of them, or they can choose to not show any emotion, it's a choice we all have.

I am not staving off anything. Rather I was just curious how people would respond, because you, like others believe this will be a tough game to escape. So I thought I would see what the temperature of the board would be IF they do happen to lose.

I really enjoy how many people get worked up (not including you) in my questions I pose to the board. The questions I ask don't assume anything or have an agenda, but some people want to make assumptions about motivations. Oh well.
