Huskers Visit Shockers for Exhibition on Saturday

The Nebraska baseball team travels to Wichita, Kan., on Saturday to face Wichita State in a fall exhibition game at Eck Stadium, starting at 2 p.m. (CT).

The Huskers and Shockers will play 12 innings, as each team welcomes a new skipper for the upcoming season. Nebraska Head Coach Will Bolt and Wichita State Head Coach Eric Wedge each enter their first year in 2020.

General admission tickets for the contest are $5 and can be purchased at GoShockers.com/tickets or by calling 316-978-FANS. All military and first responders will valid I.D. will receive free admission to the game.

In April 2018, the NCAA Division I Council adopted legislation to allow two fall exhibitions that do not count toward a team’s 56-game spring schedule. Last fall, Nebraska hosted Wichita State (Sept. 22) and Kansas (Oct. 6) in exhibition games at Hawks Field.

The Huskers went 32-24 during the 2019 regular season en route to their fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in the last six years. NU posted a 15-9 record in Big Ten play to tie for third in the conference before finishing runner-up at the conference tournament. Last season, Wichita State went 28-31 overall and posted a 9-15 record in American Athletic Conference play.

In the all-time series between Nebraska and Wichita State, the Huskers hold a narrow 26-25 advantage. The two teams last met in the regular season in March 2018, when the Shockers won 2-of-3 games on their home field.

They had bases loaded and no out, only scored 2, back-to-back punch outs to win it shows some stones, I like it. Runs scored via manufacturing, AND long balls both, just an exhibition but. . .not bad.

From the best I could figure out...

Batting order and position(s) played
- Jaxon Hallmark 2B/SS
- Mojo Hagge LF - Keegan Watson RF
- Aaron Palensky RF - Drew Mackie LF
- Luke Roskam C/3B - Gunner Hellstrom C - Aaron Dolney C
- Leighton Banjoff DH - Brandon Sellon DH
- Cam Chick 3B
- Ty Roseberry 1B - Luke Boynton 1B
- Joe Acker CF - Mike Addante CF
- Shay Schanaman SS/2B

Shay did not pitch this day
Think he had 2 singles, stole 2 bases (in back to back fashion) to score a run.
Noticed in Shay's summer ball stats he was playing more position.

A lot of players did not play Saturday.
They got the players split into 2 teams throughout fall.
Looks to me, that one set (team) of players got to play Saturday.
The other set will probably play in the next exhibition (hopefully announced soon).
