I've just been tipped off by Richie Schnyderite over at our Rutgers site in the Rivals network that Nebraska will be hosting tight end transfer Travis Vokolek for a visit on Tuesday.
Vokolek graduated from Springfield (Mo.) Kickapoo H.S. His father, D.J. Vokolek is originally from Lincoln, played at UNK and started out coaching at Wayne State and UNO. He’s currently coaching at Northern Iowa.
I was able to watch Vokolek play as a junior against Tre Bryant and CBC in the playoffs. He was one of the more talented players on the field that night.
Travis Vokolek just finished up an official visit to Iowa and plans on visited Kansas State and Arkansas as well.
Vokolek played as a true freshman for Rutgers and this past season as a sophomore he started seven games for the Scarlet Knights. He recorded 16 catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns on the season.
Vokolek will be a 3-for-2 transfer and will have to sit out a year unless given a special waiver by the NCAA.
It is unclear at this moment if Vokolek will be visiting NU as an official visitor or not at this moment.
********UPDATE**********
I’ve been able to confirm that Vokolek will be on campus tomorrow as an unofficial visitor and as of right now he does not have an official offer from the Huskers.
