Ran across this interview with Kelly Mosier (Asst AD of Digital Comm @ Nebraska) -- the guy running the show for NU on social media. Really interesting look into what his team does for the program.

Hard to measure this crew's direct impact on recruiting and national perception, but I do get the feeling that Nebraska puts a stronger product on social media than many other national programs. Can't get enough of all the Keith Williams videos :)

I think it's amazing what this team of social media personnel has done for the huskers.

Just waiting for the posters to come and remind us that we were 6-7 last year. Can't have too much positivity on this board, you know.

I think this was the best line of the interview. He gets it!

"I think Twitter, even though it’s not the largest social media account, is probably the most powerful. It’s the way you can build a narrative and really engage with influencers across your brand. That and just the nature of how Twitter works because it’s so much in real time. We probably spend a disproportionate amount of our time focused on Twitter for that reason but by the same token, if Twitter is your main narrative driver, Facebook is your billboard. "

You forgot to mention some people will think this article is meant to reflect on the former staff.

I was actually surprised to hear that the other day Snapchat usage is actually is now greater than Twitter usage.

Maybe I'm just getting old. What's the big deal with Snapchat and Instagram? Asking because I honestly don't know.

Snap chat:

For young people: a way to share photos and communicate so your parents don't see it (opposite of Facebook).

For college (and probably younger people too): a way to share parties and nudes.

For young adults: a way to keep in touch with friends.

Adults: I get to see pictures and videos of my kids a lot and I can show my mom and siblings a bunch of them without a huge group text or overloading people's Facebook feeds.

Grandparents: They get a lot of pictures and videos of their grandkids.

Twitter is dead in the sense that they have not figured out how to make money off of it yet… My guess is it ends up being sold. Gretna Shawn did a pretty good job discussing Snapchat and Snapchat is actually getting a little more open to the non-individual usage Avenue. For instance you could follow husker football on Snapchat And it will take you through practice sessions and game day and tailgating and things like that.
