First challenge tomorrow night in Philly. 17-18 pt underdogs, so apparently Vegas has little faith. Hopefully that offense can find rhythm again and we can put some points on the board to make it a game. GBR

Nova is a final 4 caliber team with loads of experience. The Huskers have one of the youngest teams in college hoops. That line may be too small.

Our young team is not ready for a road game like this yet. I think it gets ugly, 20+ point loss.

However, I think we can be a middle-of-the-pack Big Ten team by conference time if we stay healthy.

Nova will be starting Jalen Brunson...probably the most sought after PG in the nation last year, he is a true freshmen and he knows Glynn Watson well, it will be interesting to see if they guard each other. Brunson is amazing but still young so he can make mistakes with a guy like Parker on him

It will be great for this young team either way. I think White has the ability to be the best player on the floor in about every game we'll play this year. Hopefully he will allow Shavon the space he needs to get to the rim. I feel like this team can overachieve if we can find a 3rd scorer to emerge.

Sig bet?

I'm willing to risk embarrassment, because I've seen this team and I don't see them getting run off any court this year. This Nebraska team is athletic as hell, and Nova doesn't play an offense that could cause us trouble. Teams like Purdue might though

Jalen Brunson their 5* recruit PG, is good. but I'd be willing to bet "some" in Chicago think Watson was better. Andrew White is not a Freshman. Shavon is a great leader, and Parker and Tai's perimeter defense makes this a game

Also for your reading Pleasure... Morrow probably won't be star struck seeing Brunson either

This is not true, we play a "pack" defense that is designed to take away the drive. But with us packing it in where are vunerable to the three ball. Nova shot 36 three balls in their first game and will likely be shooting quite a bit from deep tonight. Hopefully, they are off. It won't surprise me if we play them tough because I do like some of the puzzles to our team, but I think the youth going into a hostile environment for their first game will prove to be too much.

Yep.

I know you have some knowledge about this subject huskerbaseball13. I know Nova will have a few open looks for 3, but I would take Tai and Parker defending it would you not?

I know Northern St. is not Villanova, but a team doesn't shoot 3% from behind the arc without a little perimeter defense.

Edit: ***Our Perimeter defense is not bad, not quite sure why you always try and find an argument with me regarding this stuff.

Exhibition game Opponents 3pt%: 1/33 for 3%
MSVS 3pt%: 3/16 for 18.8

Look all I'm saying is give the damn team some credit. Through the first 2 game the teams haven't exactly done all that great behind the arc

Dude.. its not really about athleticsm or even matchups. Its a road game,, for a very young team, in November, at a top 10 team with a bunch of post season experience. If this game was played in late January, I would have a different opinion.

I'm not...not giving our team credit. I'm just relaying our coachces concerns in defending Nova. He said as much in the PC after our first win. I'm just saying if Nova wants to shoot the three ball they will likely have plenty of open chances if we defend like normal. And I'm not saying that's a bad thing, if they are on and firing on all cyclinder...kudos to them. I'd much rather force them to beat us with the three ball as opposed to giving them easy buckets driving to the hole.

We do match up in terms of size and style of play, but I just can't see this young team hanging with a Top 10 team on the road this early in the season. I'm not sure if Miles even knows what he has in alot of these players, we are still trying to figure out rotations, etc. This game will be great for our development, but I don't really see us being competitive.

We will likely get whipped but it doesnt matter much in the big scheme of things.

I'm glad NU is playing a game like this. Assuming 'Nova is among the nation's top teams in March, this game provides a little RPI boost and some schedule cred. It's never too early to start working on your resume, especially if your ceiling is a that of a bubble team.

A win - however unlikely - would instantly put NU back on the basketball map this season. At the very least, I'd like to see NU be competitive in the game.
