The University of Nebraska has added Buffalo to its 2021 non-conference football schedule. Nebraska announced the latest addition to the Huskers’ future non-conference schedule on Tuesday.

The Bulls will visit Lincoln on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021. The game will mark the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The match-up with Buffalo completes the Huskers’ 2021 non-conference schedule. Nebraska will open the season at Memorial Stadium on Sept. 4 against Northern Illinois, and will travel to Oklahoma on Sept. 18, 2021.

Buffalo plays in the Mid-American Conference and has had a schedule full of marquee opponents in recent years. In the past decade, the Bulls’ schedules have included Power Five opponents Baylor, Boston College, Georgia, Missouri, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and Tennessee.

The Bulls are coached by Lance Leipold, who enters his second year at the helm of the program in 2016. Leipold joined Buffalo after a remarkable run of success at Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he guided the school to six national championships in eight years. Leipold worked in the Nebraska recruiting office from 2001 to 2003.

Buffalo captured the Mid-American Conference title in 2008 under the direction of Head Coach Turner Gill. The Bulls have made bowl appearances in 2008 and 2013.
