Husker Volleyball 4th in Final Poll?

I mean, we had Penn State on the ropes in our last game and pretty much curb-stomped everyone else.

I appreciate your point, but this was our best team not to win a title and deserved more. They weren’t the fourth best team.

Just ridiculous. It was pretty obvious the Huskers were the 2nd best team in that final four.

What's your opinion on the portal needs? 1 outside hitter? There's lots of young talent coming in but seems like in order to win a NC teams need to take advantage of a transfer or 2.

At most Nebraska should be #3 because typically the loser of the championship finishes #2.

I think for sure we need 1 OH, but maybe 2. I think the last 5 years-ish, we are lacking that big time OH when it comes to crunch time. Lexi Sun was good, but not big time. Allie B cost us a lot and Krause with injuries didn't live up to her full talent. MB seemed to fade when we needed her as well. I'm not taking shots at any of these ladies as they are stud athletes, just not the dominant ones we need to get us across the finish line. It would be nice to get a stone cold killer at the other spot like a Franklin, Mruzic, Deleye, etc. If NU lands someone like that in the portal, I think we win.

It'll be interesting to see what happens with some of our roster as well. For some of the youngsters it may be hard to sit. I know GOAT will have a plan, but I see us taking a few early lumps potentially to test all of the youngsters to see who might have the "it" factor. We've had some great classes, but now need to see Sklyar P make a jump or maybe one of the incoming frosh have an impact like Harper did.

How bout Kennedy Martin from Florida. Thought I heard their coach was retiring. Could be another Merritt. Worked out good for her earning top draft pick. Lol.

I forgot something I learned when I was coaching under some amazing coaches in Class A basketball. No matter how good you look on paper, or even the prior game, if your team isn't playing their very best (insert sport) in the tournament, you can certainly lose. I was really upset that they pissed the PSU game away. However, they were not playing thier best volleyball leading up to that match. They seemed to peak a couple weeks prior.

There’s no way for me to agree enough with your points. We haven’t had an animal at OH in forever. Since Foecke maybe? I feel like we’ll continue to come up short until we get one. We literally brought everyone back from a championship appearance and still failed this year.

Great call…

Foecke was a player that wanted/demanded the ball and willed her team to wins.

Maybe one of the current players can turn into that player heading into next season.

I raised my eyebrows seeing them finish at #4. But yeah... 3,4... they were definitely a top 5 team this year. The expectations for them every year is off the charts.

I thought she was fine in the final match. Definitely wanted her serve in there, which was a weapon even when she was struggling offensively.

Well Pitt did sweep Penn State this season and made the final four. And Louisville made the final.

Just playing devils advocate. I don't actually think the ladies are 4th. Probably 3rd at worse. But doesn't matter at the end of the day. Only #1 matters. They had their chance but couldn't finish when it mattered the most.

By that reasoning Creighton should be #3 they too had Penn State on the ropes.

I agree completely with you. We didn’t win the championship. It doesn’t matter where we finish in the polls. I wouldn’t care if they had us at 15th because for a championship mindset program, like you said, it’s #1 or nothing.
