Husker helmet amongst ugliest

I personally don't care what an outsider thinks. We've got tradition. You can't manufacture that. As much as I hate the Irish, they should market Rockne to the max. It makes so much sense on many levels. We should have Osborne unis. With Frost back it's a natural.

If I was Dan Lyons, I would not call anything ugly.
If I was him, and saw somebody wearing dark brown pants, a lime green shirt with some bowling shoes, I'd be careful about saying that outfit is ugly.

Not only is Dan Lyons fat, he is ugly as a mfr.
He's so ugly, that if he lost weight, he'd be even uglier.

I never liked ucla, usc, or alabama helmets. Alabama helmets do have a classic bonus though.

Best helmets for me include florida, colorado, OU, Tenn, old pitt script, LSU off the top of my head. Dont like the teams but the helmets are good.
Love Nebraskas.

And too think that if Jennings in his last year at Nebraska didn’t change the red helmets with a white stripe to the all white helmets with numbers, we would have looked like Alabama except for the crimson.

Thanks a lot, Dan. You just ruined my night

That writer just has bad taste. This is the first time ive ever seen our helmets in a "worst of" list; always been in best of lists.

Middle Tennessee's helmets are pretty nice in those pictures too.

its all about perspective. Instead of ugliest helmet it could be most iconic.

It’s iconic. It must never change. It gives me goosebumps. But if you look at it objectively with no ties to the program, it’s -at best- generic.

Except for alternate uniform games. Don’t always have to have the N on the sides for that and use the other N font that is on the middle of the football field or our clothing attire.

Iconic doesn't have to mean attractive. Look at Penn State. They have the most bland, boring design for their helmets-plain white with a single blue stripe down the center. Yet most would consider it iconic and I seriously doubt they would ever consider changing it. In fact, I would argue many of the most iconic football helmets are pretty bland and generic.

Makes you wonder how the columnist didn't put Penn St helmet in the top 5, it's the most boring bland helmet in the country.Winking

I love how he dogs Nebraskas helmets but mentions Tennessees orange on white are timeless and classic. Pretty damn similar if you ask me.
I'm waiting for Oregon to use LED lights or those
3-D decals that "move" like the old Donruss baseball cards when you look at them from different angles.

A friend of mine wanted me to say, "Get off of my lawn!".

OK, it looks like poetry at first glance.

An unpainted plastic helmet with a red "N" sticker normally used for yard sale signs. It's ugly. Coupled with a mascot who's literally a hillbillly and you wonder why recruits from California and Florida think there's nothing interesting in Nebraska.

Iconic. Exactly. If you've got Iconic, you don't need Pretty.

It seems that being lame and boring has worked for Alabama. I don't think it's our uniform that is driving away the recruits. Riley recruited California well and Frost has made inroads to Florida.

Well, you're a real killjoy, aren't you? :D Nebraska, however, is getting recruits from Cali and Florida, so things aren't so bad!
