The big difference in this game is errors. Play sloppy > lose. The Huskers seem to be lacking a power hitter this year. Meyers looks like their best player this year. He pitched well today despite getting in trouble in the 6th.
And there it is.
I do miss playing the Horns. My favorite moment in Nebraska baseball history is still the time at The Buck when Dan Johnson screamed at Augie Garrido to get the *&^#%%# off the field.I was telling my wife that we sure could use another run. She's a Texas fan. Any Texas team before the Huskers. Can't believe I've put up with her for 24 years.![]()
Well, not a great weekend but that was a good comeback to salvage a game.
The bad thing is that Minnesota lost their series and we had a chance to go into our series with them next week just a half game behind if we had won our series. With all that hubbub the past two days, we're still only one game back from B10 lead, and still ahead of Iowa in the standings.
Disappointing series, but not a crippler. If NU had gone 1-1-1 at Indiana and 2-1 the past two weekends, most would probably call that a good start to the conference season. Not a blistering start, but pretty good. With all that hubbub the past two days, we're still only one game back from B10 lead, and still ahead of Iowa in the standings.
I didn't underestimate Iowa. I certainly didn't expect them to be a pushover. But they are a team that we absolutely should win the series against at home.Goes to show that Iowa is tougher than we'd like to believe. All three games could have gone either way. They've got more power and Adams is a beast. He won't be back next year for the Hawkeyes. He'll be in the MLB.
Yeah but the Huskers need to do that, since they're essentially throwing their Friday night starter on Sundays. Puts a real premium on Sunday wins.Maybe we can find some way to play all of our games on Sunday? We're 6-0-1 on Sunday this year.
Those who said Iowa wasn't a very good baseball team are clueless.
Only thing that will hurt them is their pitching staff has some injuries and mostly won't have the staff the top half of the league like Nebraska did today.
Or...our pitching isn't that great. Giving up 3 HRs in one game is fking ridiculous.
Maybe so, but Adams leads the league in HRs. Maybe you shouldn't have an aneurysm over things you have no control over.
