Huge game tonight for Husker Hoops vs. Miami tonight

The good news is, we can totally hang with top-25 teams. The bad news is, we played pretty crappy down the stretch. We could have a 5 or 6 point lead right now with smarter offensive choices.

The only reason we were in the game was because of our ball movement and team play. Then with 3 minutes left in regulation Shavon takes one out of Petteways book and kills any semblance of offense we had

He played a pretty big part in keeping us in the game, but yeah, I don't know what the hell he's been doing. It's like he just wigged out.

Damn...major opportunity missed tonight. The future may be bright, but tonight is gonna leave a mark. Just couldn't finish.

We should have had this one. Huge disappoint from the offense in the last 8 minutes of the ball game. No ball movement, just everyone standing around. Losing Tai hurt us big tim

This team can win a lot of games if Miles dumps the iso offense. Pass the frickin ball!

Were you even watching the game? I mean, outside of the final 3 minutes of regulation? This isn't on Miles. This one is on Shields. The team was passing the ball plenty and then Shields decided he wanted to score every time he touched the ball. And missed almost every shot.

I honestly think some of the standing around was because they knew once Shavon touched it, he was going to put it up. Looked a lot like last year.

0 for 6 during OT. 0 for 2 from the line. Sloppy play. Throwing the ball away. Sigh..

Against a very good top 25 team. I'm not sure what some of you expected. We are near the top of the country when it comes to number of freshmen on this roster. Growing pains are going to come with that, but the team has showed they can play with anybody.

I want a team that can step up to the challenge...and at least make a shot during OT, and not lose with a whimper. That's not too much to ask.

Can't wait to see what these guys can do down the stretch. I liked what I saw tonight for the most part.

Youth excuse does not work in hoops

I did too. And I think against a Big 10 conference that looks like it's in for a down year, we could make the same kind of noise we did two years ago, only this time, we will also be building for the future, instead of desperately trying to cash in on two players having big games.

They took a very good (best offense in the country) top 25 team to overtime. They stepped up.

They played well during regulation, and then faded when it counted. Not making a shot during OT is unfathomable.

you think we take creighton down next week?

Oh good lord. So regulation didn't count? One of the best players (I can't beleive I'm typing that) on the team right now fouled out. The BEST player on the team went full Petteway AND was trying to play through a bum calf. Unfathomable? Really? You need to settle down. Or watch more basketball. or both.

Yes, unfathomable. Not making a shot in OT is inexcusable.

I've watched zero point zero minutes of Creighton this year. I have no idea how good they are. But I think we can play with anyone and I think sooner or later we start finding a way to finish off these close games.

And yet happens plenty. If you're going to get this bent out of shape over a loss to a very good team, I suggest you not watch the rest of the season, because there are going to be some peaks and valleys. You do know we were 13-18 last year right?

I'd feel more optimistic if the game were in Lincoln. Going to have to shoot the ball very well that game becuase it seems CU shoots very well against Nebraska in recent years, and CU has been playing very well the last couple of weeks.

If it's all the same to you, I'll just go ahead and decide what TV programs I watch. You don't have to worry. If I see many more performances like our OT performance tonight, I won't want to watch this team. So rest easy.

You're not sure what "some of you expected," but then you say this team can play with anybody. Then expecting better play and winning at home isn't out of the question, right? And speaking of playing with anybody, how'd that game against Villanova go a few weeks ago? It's going to take more than 20 wins to get to the "dance," you have to beat ranked teams from time to time, especially when there's a chance to do it at home and in a conference that's not too good outside of Maryland. Good effort, but they needed to win tonight.

It was just a suggestion, since you're going to be a whiny turd whenever they lose.

Well, first of all, I'm shocked at how well the team has played this early in the year. Secondly, we had a real bad stretch against Villanova, but otherwise basically traded punches. Third, 20 wins, in the Big Ten, even in a down year will more than likely get us to the dance.

Do you have a 4th grade education, because most 5th graders would be able to read that my comments are regarding this team's dismal OT performance.

Do you think that makes you look like more, or less of a whiner? I'm honestly curious. Because all I can hear is whaaaaaaaaaa!! whaaaaaaaaaaa! the team isn't perfect! whaaaaaaa!

Went to the game! Great atmosphere yet again at PBA. Love it in there.
My thoughts on the game? Heck of a game to experience. Definitely saw some new tenacity from the Huskers after the first gloomy 6 possessions.
My Husker players of the game: Shavon Shields and Glynn Watson. Shields put up close to 30 and I was fine with that because of the way Tai Webster (played well tonight despite getting fouled out) and Glynn Watson balanced him out with 20 together. Benny Parker looked uncomfortable at times running the point (especially in those first 6 possessions). I was reading through some posts saying Watson had terrible shot selection, I am going to really disagree because thought he had great shot selection. Mid-range pull-up jumpers like the ones he made are huge buckets for a team like this right now.

The offense ran much more fluidly with him running the point than Parker. I'm not discrediting Parker overall because he played some great defense and had some great steals tonight, but Watson looks much more comfortable at point guard for Nebraska and it is fun to watch the guys play team basketball. I am excited for the B1G season and I hope we only improve every week. GBR.

Check out your posts throughout this entire thread. You appear to have had your candy stolen multiple times, when the team was actually playing some decent ball. I didn't say a word until the team folded up their tent in OT.

The point being...you did enough whining for the entire board during the game, so don't tell me that I'm being a whiner when I didn't say a negative word about the team, until they went O-Fer in OT.

I'm tired of our teams not finishing games. Is that fking difficult to understand?! I had enough of it during football season to last a lifetime. I don't want to see the same crap out of our Bball team too. And that's exactly what they did tonight. It seems to be an epidemic in our men's teams.

Shields has gone full Petteway. Knock it off goddamnit.

Alot of whining out of you in this thread.....

Maybe it was not evident on the tube but if we did not continue to ISO Shields it would have been very questionable. Miami was fine with opening up the lane knowing they had a solid rim protector....they were on White like glue giving guys like Shields and Tai open driving lanes. Shields should have converted more but there was nothing wrong with his play last night despite your whining.

Bingo. What a hypocrite.
