But the Volleyball team are still Huskers, and our best team by far for a while now. Can't we just cheer for them and hope this makes them even better?

The donor made the donation to the athletes they wanted to hire to promote their business. You’re assuming that the NIL group had some say in it and I see no evidence to support your premise.

Cool. Neb is the only school (or just a couple) where VB is self sustaining. Will be awesome a decade from now packing the stands watching inter-squad scrimmages b/c no or few other programs exist beyond the club level

I also know that this dude is partners with a Purdue graduate in a tech firm JUSTDATA that, along with the donation to Nebraska, also has a deal with Purdue. I also know that Drew Brees is an investor in Nebraska crossing.

Just reminding you that there is an avid volleyball fanbase in the state of Nebraska and they choose to spend their money for the Husker VB program and its players.

Volleyball will not be going away at most schools regardless of football funding because it is an important sport for title IX scholarship requirements. Volleyball helps partially offset the football scholarships for men.

I see no downside to large donations to other sports. If Rhule gets the football team right NIL money will never be an issue. People across the state will be emptying saving accounts and pulling up floorboards to donate hidden money. Quite frankly if we can't show something on the field relatively soon I'm not sure the team needs more NIL money because it won't matter.
