Let’s assume Riley can grasp the obvious. How can he assist in making the transition as beneficial to NU as possible?
First of a do no harm. Sew positives with the current players and recruits. I believe he is the kind of person that will do that. He could start now “regardless of what happens NU is a place that will treat players right and will win big.”
MR will probably be gone in three weeks. Would Scott skip the UCF bowl or would he send a trusted staff member ahead to work with elements of Riley’s staff. MR could also set the tone for that period. “We need to do everything possible to keep things moving until Frost arrives - conditioning, etc. Have everything in top shape for him. Stay with recruits that would have opportunity to contribute. The opposite of Bo basically.
Ideally UCF would be coached by assistants and Scott would come on board in three weeks. This is what Tom Herman chose to do. But UCF might be in a New Years Bowl so may not happen.
