I miss that rivalry. Of course, they're in a different league than us right now. And I don't mean conference. League.
I remember the Nebraska/Oklahoma battles very well. I remember my whole family in Kansas City around the tube - thanksgiving I think - watching what was the NC game in 73? 74? too far back - can't remember. I lost a bet not long ago that Keith Jackson said "whoa Nelly" when Johnny Rogers broke that punt return loose for 6. He said something else. Cost me a beer. That was one hell of a game. Those were two programs that absolutely tore each other to pieces for four quarters.I miss those games since I grew up in the 70s and 80s even though so many were absolutte heartbreakers). If you weren't alive back then, you don't have an appreciation just how big a deal those games were, and how awesome it was to have the game on TV (something taken for granted today).

The OU - NU rivalry died in 1996. Not sure why some think it was when Nebraska went to the B1G that it died.
This is very true. Although I'm not sure that NU was second. It's close between them and Okie St.^^^^^ Even prior to that most older Sooner fans would tell you Texas has always been their main rival and NU was second.
Bud Wilkinson was the color guy. He was in awe of Rich Glover's performance that day.No. Facts are loose out here. I believe it was Chris schenkle and perhaps frank broyels on color
