How many Husker players could start for Alabama or Clemson?

Obviously none of our offensive or defensive lineman would even make third string on their teams. Can you imagine the Alabama or Clemson defensive front going against our offensive line? With all of the sacks that would take place, Nebraska would have negative 25-50 rushing yards. Winking
Maurice might make a push for PT. Gates might show up on the depth chart as a guard. We've got some pretty darned good talent in some spots but some glaring holes at others. I think some of the youngsters on our team are going to be able to play with anybody by the time they're upperclassmen.

Maurice and Gates would push for playing time in the fourth quarter of a blowout game. They don't sniff 1st or 2nd string at Alabama.

Maurice is better than you give him credit for IMO. Gates is out of position IMO and is a very talented guy. I think he would crack the 2 deep at Bama at guard. JMHO. One thing about having as many difference makers as Bama has is that it makes everybody around them look better. Bama will have a bunch of guys drafted but I think both Maurice and Gates will get drafted as well eventually. Not all of Bama's linemen play in the NFL if you haven't noticed. Gates should be healthy next year and he's going to be viewed as a versatile guy drafted as a guard when he's done.

From a poster on another website...How many 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teamers from Alabama/Clemson would start at Nebraska? Winking

How many of Bama or Clemson players would have played at Neb in mid 90's, my guess is none. I think we all know we need to get better talent and I think we are headed in right direction.

Start? Zero. How many would make the 2 deep?

Except maybe for Brown, nobody on NU currently starts for 'Bama (or probably for Clemson but I haven't seen them as much). Who would make 2nd string and see the field with the game still on the line? Gates, Westerkamp, DPE, Reilly (some will disagree but the guy has made a career out of exceeding expectations), and Gerry if he doesn't have his head up his arse. Carlos Davis would be seen as an intriguing talent but wouldn't be playing as a RFr. Other than that, no one seems even close.

Oh my goodness, these guys couldn't register on the all B1G teams for crying out loud, how do Collins and Gates (at guard no less) make the Bama team where there are only limited spots? Apparently the people picking all B1G teams didn't think either guy was that great. So what did Collins do that was so great? I am not bashing the kid, I am glad to have him but I don't see him at the caliber you do and apparently neither do others. And how do you project Gates at guard? Did you see some practices with him there or some other inside scoop or do you just know more than the coaches?

I've seen some interviews and read some stories over the years on Saban's coaching practices/methods...

Anyone that has coached with him knows he better pull his weight and coach hard.

FBletterman said it above that players would quit, and I bet some would. If they didn't quit, he would send them on their way if they weren't pulling their weight.

Saban coaches to win championships and nothing else.

Yeah see that quote from Lane Kiffen today saying he has had no fun at all in his job the last 3 years. Of course those reports out of Miami when Saban was HC were not flattering. Saban runs a military style program.

Yes he does.

Stanley Morgan will be a beast next year with a true QB. He has size and skills.
