How do you sell this program to recruits?

The early playing time angle is obvious, but how do you convince them that things will dramatically turn around and that they'll be playing for conference titles before they graduate? I think it will be extremely hard to get DB's to sign on to the scheme we are running.

Id think our record would be trouble too but it rarely scares recruits away if we have a good recruiter along witha big program like ours. Remember Callahan, he had shit records here constantly and he was always getting top 10 classes. A winning record would help but it wont push the kids away.

According to Rivals...Callahan only had 1 top 10 class and that was in 2005. He did have another class ranked 12th.

4. riley is not a physco

7. just as good facilities as anyone else, if not much better
8. if you like passing this is passing USA now

Well I sure hope this staff makes a concerted, sustained effort to bring in the best talent they can. We have some very promising verbals and I hope we go hog wild in recruiting defensive talent.

actually a lot of db like to play press man. you tell them things will change when the get players like them. not hard to tell kids they will play for conference titles. heck when b10 does its fall camp tour you have guys from purdue saying the goal is b10 championship

That's not to say teams won't lose recruits to varying circumstances, but everyone acting like absolutely zero people want to come to UNL is a swing too far.

Right now, I think Nebraska really needs some momentum. Beat Sparty or Iowa and definitely Rutgers. Win 2 of the next three and get the players on board and build some momentum for recruiting. I think losing all three would be devastating. Losing 2 of three wouldn't be good...but it is what it is right now.

100% agree Jflores. That's the crazy thing with recruiting is fans are thinking POB is the next coming of Jesus. Let's let him take a snap. Also, fans think that Ryker is the answer and Tommy A sucks... yada yada yada.. No matter what, let them do their job. It's fun to bitch and talk about Nebraska football, but at the end of the day coaches know, and you have to go with that until proven wrong.

I agree that records don't "scare" recruits (when it is a new staff) but winning is something that can "entice" recruits. A lot of times that can be an extra edge for a program and as we all know coming in second for a recruit is almost the same as coming in last. Said another way, your situation doesn't take you out of the game for most recruits but it will make things a little harder. Thus, over the next few months and into the next recruiting cycle you will find out just how good your coaches are at seling the program and their vision.

2. If you make 1st team on the offensive line you will play every single down.
3. You are the only RB we are taking in this class, we won't take another RB.
