HH no longer QB2 in 2025?

This is a long time coming. HH will excel as a tight end. Need to bring in a portal QB as a backup... You can throw a dart at the board for all I care. Haarberg brings athleticism, he's a great teammate, and a good kid. A Husker through and through. I'd love to see him get a shot where he can best utilize his talents and gives himself a chance at the next level.

Did they cut his dvcking pay
I would hope there is some contract changes coming. If he is fired (edit) we would be on the hook for the full - so I’m assuming there is some renegotiation taking place for year 2 but all speculation on my part.

You mean if he quit we wouldn't owe him anything? If we fire him we might be on the hook for the full, no clue what the contract says about termination.
I hope so......give that money to the best DC available.
Do you really think the Satterfield contract is going to impact Rhule's ability to hire whatever DC he wants? I don't.

I don't know, do you. Rhule has done some silly shit hiring coaches

If we fired him I think coordinators have a plus 1 contract so we would be on the hook for the full amount. If he quits he gets nothing. If he wants to stay and DH wants him to stay I would assume it stairsteps down next year and the year after potentially.

[unrelated] Looks like Logan Smothers will get the start at QB for Jacksonville State in the Conf. USA championship game this weekend. Gamecocks QB Huff probably unable to go due to ankle injury.
So, Smothers is a backup on a lower division team?

You wrote the opposite in your original post. No worries.

Are there really kids out there that want to come in as a guaranteed back up? I mean, any qb on the roster, assuming no injuries, will be no more than a backup to DR for at least another 2 years.

I don’t follow Jax State much but my understanding is that Rodriguez lured a transfer QB from Presbyterian (Huff) who won the job (probably because of a better arm cuz he passed for 2,000+ yds this year). Not sure if LS suffered injuries. Both are good runners (Huff added 1000+ rushing yards).

I’m sure they’d like to play but the money is a factor.

Good for what? Throwing picks? This is how people end up back with their exes! "She wasn't so bad..." next thing you know she's burning down your double-wide again!
I mean all we need really is a bench warmer. We're not going to be bringing in anyone to compete with DR. HH can fill in during an emergency. The incoming freshman will sit and develop.

Translation here, HH experiment cost us DK. Let's not lose another P5 QB by playing a non P5 qb ever again.
I doubt it.

Likely more DR being the clear choice going forward, and not knowing when he'd actually get to play. HH would probably have been gone by the time DK had a chance to start anyway.

I was hoping they'd move HH this year both for his development and just to get use out of his athletic ability, but I understand why they kept him at QB because of depth concerns and all.

I get it. But can we all be serious - Chubba isn’t coming back to Nebraska. First of all, he’s never accepted that he’s a backup. That’s why he’s looking for his fourth team.
