Those freakin birds better stay the heck away. There is one team I don't want to see Gordon at. And it's the Cards. This move makes that more likely.
#GoCubsGo!
Wow, all those years of sitting quietly while the fans wanted them to make moves is paying off big time right now. This team will compete for (and hopefully win) a World Series in the next 1 - 4 years.
Yeah, but Maddon unlocked his potential for a nice stretch run. Ive never been a fan, but potential is what gets coaches fired.castro was awful for four months fwiw. I will miss that guy though.
Well, first off, with very few moves last year, the Cubs had the second best record in all of baseball last season. They advanced to the NLCS with mostly home grown talent, while not blowing a ton of cash on free agents. Now they have used their money to pick up significant pieces and will definitely be in the hunt for a World Series over the next 3-4 years (minimum.)How has it paid off big time right now? Did the Cubs win something?
Only on days that Holliday sits...otherwise RF. Alex will love playing in StL and the fans will love him. This will work out for both parties."Starting in left field for your St Louis Cardinals......Alex Gor........."
They are still just the Cubs until they win something. I don't know if this signing greatly improves the Cubs or hurts the Red Birds for that matter. After all, Hayward didn't light it up last season.Well, first off, with very few moves last year, the Cubs had the second best record in all of baseball last season. If you don't think these moves will pay off, then you, sir, don't see a power house in the making when it hits you in the face.
David Schoenfield agrees. http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/p...heyward-signing-cubs-the-team-to-beat-in-2016

LOL...13 HRs and 60 RBIs from a power position...OK. At least he has cut down on his whiffs. He's a great defender with clearly declining power and run production numbers, And, he's now a small bear.he was 11th in WAR amongst all hitters in all of MLB. Hopefully, he continues not lighting it up.

lol. So many World Series have been won in the offseason it's hard to keep up. I'll go ahead and stick around for the rest of free agency and the regular season before conceding all of baseball to the Cubs.We won 97 games last year. If we add another good starter, They are bar none the best team in baseball, at least on paper.
Look...Heyward is a very nice player...especially in the field. However, he only hit 13 homers and drive in 60 runs on a 100 win team while playing a run producing offensive position. Additionally, Heyward hit only .264 with runners in scoring position and .245 with RISP and two out. If you are happy with that, great! However, those are hardly elite offensive numbers...not even close, pal. Like I said, he's a great defender (something the small bears need with Schwarber and Soler, who collectively couldn't catch a cold) and he will improve an already very good team, at least defensively.Keep telling yourself that. I bet your one of those guys who suddenly "never wanted him anyway" whenever a recruit decommits too.

His glove will be missed but losing him is far from devastating. I find it funny that small bears fans think that they've just signed Trout or Harper...he's a nice player, but not worth stupid money. In that sense, I'm glad StL lost out on him. I hope his contract turns out to be another Soriano-type albatross for the Chicago team. His WAR and fWAR were among the best in baseball. By the way, your team was pretty confident he was worth his paycheck considering the Cardinals actually offered more money, but he chose the Cubs.
Then Kevin Kiermaier should make $25 million/year. I'm a Cubs fan. I'm not enamored with him because I think you could have used that money on a player that doesn't hit 15 HR and 60 RBI on average per year. Defense is great but is he worth that money? I don't think so. That's middle of the lineup money. He's either hitting 1st(not his natural spot IMO) or 6th/7th. you have Russell, Schwarber, Rizzo, Bryant, Soler, Zobrist. Montero is going to catch so that leaves a pitcher and one more spot.he was 11th in WAR amongst all hitters in all of MLB. Hopefully, he continues not lighting it up.
Team chemistry killed the Nationals, and at the same time it is what propelled both the Mets and Cubs to the NLCS, as well as the Royals to the championship. Don't underestimate the importance of getting along with your peers (Papelbon and Harper).I like the move for the Cubs but let's not forget the 2015 team to beat was....your Washington Nationals....and everybody did in fact beat them.
He's a right fielderThe key baseball has always been defense and OBS for players up the middle (CF, 2B, SS, C) , and power on the corners (LF, RF, 3rd, 1st). The Cubs needed a great center fielder with a high OBS, speed, and a good arm. They got exactly the player they needed and acquired him as he's coming into his prime. Adding Zobrist was likewise a great move (Castro was an on/off player hitter and not great on the bases). Also I hope the Cubs hold onto Soler as I think he will have a break-out year with the bat and hit 30-40 home runs.
When does Smardizifjajackass accept this years Cy Young? Cub fan promised me he would have multiple by now.
"Made up" you are funnyah, now you've got the made up story. guess it's not surprising, seems to run in your circle.
