Are you sure those aren't the odds we win a tourney game? Those don't seem high enough for the whole enchilada.

Things are often not as bad as they're portrayed by the masses. And when it comes to spring football, things are often not as good as they're portrayed. The fun is in watching how things turn out. I root for my team and coach until the AD says he's no longer our coach and try not to undermine him with vociferous negativism......that is unless his first name starts with B and ends with an o and he deserves to be run out of town.You have proven that, my friend!!!
I'm really looking forward to the rest of baseball this year, football this fall and basketball next winter. As long as our coaches and players represent the university in a positive manner I'm pretty happy. My support isn't predicated on a certain win/loss record. I got over that YEARS ago when Tom took over the program because for YEARS he disappointed me with late season losses. I've learned to temper my expectations and ENJOY the battles. My self esteem doesn't depend on how many wins we accumulate.It has been quite a few years since spring football optimism has been out of control. As for basketball I think negativism is reality. I can appreciate @dinglefritz stance. The problem I have with that line of thinking is that if enough people begin or continue to think across those lines, the less pressure there is on the administration to expect winning. It's the textbook definition of lowered expectations. No thanks. There needs to be a middle ground between blind support and constant calls for firing of the coach. We don't have to live and die with each victory to the point that our dogs aren't kicked but we should be able to "force" the administration into improving the product we are spending our money on.
There are plenty of people that give a helluva lot more money than you do that DO derive at least some of their self esteem from the W/L record. THEY have the AD's ear and I don't need to rant day after day on a message board. There are literally just a handful of people on here that continue to criticize Miles. How much influence do you really think a couple of dozen ANONYMOUS message board posters really have on our AD? The people that buy the suites and go to cocktail parties with SE and HB etc are the guys that apply the pressure. The only people the negativity on message boards and social media influnces IMO is the players.
If attendance begins to dip and the fan support isnt there, it puts pressure on the admin to do something.
Secondly, message board posts arent what I am talking about. The attitude of I will support the team no matter how poor the product is, isn't done on a message board.
The Cubs are a perfect example of this. When the Tribune owned the team, they did little to develop a consistent winner because win or lose Wrigley was always full and they didn't have to go the extra mile. Had the fans stopped going to games, buying merchandise and otherwise stopped supporting the team, that ownership would have had pressure to do something to get the fans back. Luckily for Cub fans, new ownership that emphasized winning bought the team.
