First, it’s great the team won. Just this simple fact can’t be at issue. Don’t lace it with “we’re back” or “we suck” - just let it be.

Second, Coach Riley is still on the hot seat. Whether you want him there or not, he is. I think he was pretty honest about the game afterward. Glad for the players to win, deficient in the run game, appreciative of Lee’s effort (did not say anything about NFL). Pleased the kids fought back. Reasonable- I don’t think anyone would call this puffery or satisfied. Just a guy trying to build some confidence in a team that got their butt’s kicked the last few weeks.

Say what you will about about Lee, but he went from a guy booed at Home to some pretty decent numbers. Given the play of the OL, injuries and drops at WR, he deserves that. If he continues to play and improve, he will earn some NFL consideration. If!

The OL is struggling. Injuries didn’t help - especially to Decker, but this unit ain’t making it. I’ve supported Cav with idea that he needed this year to show it. He hasn’t. I don’t think we have great linemen, but the play just isn’t good enough. If I was Riley, I’d give a hard look at making that change now if he has a good alternative.

Jaylin brought some quicks to the game when others were wearing down. I’m glad we stayed with him and took a worthy instate kid.

Defense was ok last night. Not great for sure. I expected more with our DB group. Leaks everywhere. Could have killed us.

Lots of 3 and outs and nice stops when needed most.

Probably should have abandoned the run game earlier last night. Until we have a line that can move the pile, we need to rely on our assets and what we seem to do better.

Bottom line - NU won ugly on the road with an adequate performance from the D and a terrific game from Lee. Wins are better than losses. Riley is no better positioned than he was but no worse.
