Herbstreit rarely disappoints...

Like him or not, Kirk has been great for college football. College gameday has been fantastic for the game and fans.

Exactly! My driver Kevin Harvick couldn't sniff the top 10 till he joined SHR and driving Hendrick motors. Now it's rare he is outside the top ten.

these are HCMR's rides so far at Neb

I fully support Riley ... maybe I'm taking the analogy a bit to literally

Jesus dude. Get a grip. Are you trying to say this offense doesn't have a solid route tree? Seriously? You have absolutely no clue the difference in route running we have seen in one single year.

Why don't you get a grip? We were this close to being shut of a bowl game. You have absolutely no clue that I recognize yes we have improved our routes (i.e. receivers being more wide open). I think a lot of teams have lousy route trees. Routes should have a few compliments to each other. The flag compliments the post. The crossing pattern compliments the streak. The jet and fly (my terminology) compliments the post and flag. My idea of a good route tree is having a sweet spot where the defender knows the receiver can go a few different ways. Drive the poor bastard crazy.

FWIW, no I'm not a Bo-liever

You are all over the place. First you blame a call for what you perceive as a bad route. Then you claim we don't have a proper route tree. When these things were pointed out as false you keep chasing your tail. Not even sure what you are complaining about now.

I thought it was hilarious when Joey Galloway was commenting about how he had seen Iowa and some of the other BIG teams play multiple times and Hirby chimed in to the effect ... ya you get to see a lot of those teams when you are doing the noon (est) kickoff games with Beth Mowens

He ran a bad route, coached as such or not. He took an angle that led him out of bounds. Look at the reply. Are you going to deny he angled toward the sideline and that his momentum took him out?

I don't listen to any of them really, do t watch game day, I watch the games myself and make my own opinions vs those that are forced down the masses

He was also talking to the biggest pussy in sports radio, Mike Greenberg. Can't stand that guy.

Greenburg has taken the role of angry pipsqueek New Yorker to a new level on many aspects - that is what he is paid to do - I agree it is hard to listen to at times. I think ESPN is upset this call cost them a chance to have MSU and OSU play each other undefeated - and is spinning a story NU did not really win the game so they can play that up in the pre-game hype.

Clearly most commentators are not even trying to understand the rule on this play - they are using an eyeball test and saying "hey that does not look right"........makes for interesting radio, I guess.

Kirk mad that Joey was better than him as a college player and a pro? So he has to be a bitch and point out hes a good looking white guy thus gets to call "big" games. Im sure Joey cried from big timing him Kirky.

It is a judgement call ... I think most people nationally think the wrong judgement was made in this instance -- maybe 60/40 - 70/30

it is understandable how the call could have been made just as some pass interference calls are highly subjective

It baffles me how people can so vehemently defend the call when had Nebraska been in MSUs position they know full well they would be going apeshit

it was a judgement call and fortunately we came up on the favorable end

Fair enough, but don't you also think it is absurd to say MSU was "screwed" because of one judgement call? Would these same people be claiming Nebraska was 'screwed" if we had lost because of a blatant PI that wasn't called in the endzone? I doubt it.

So if Kirk isn't one of the best who do you like? Give me 3-4 that's better.
Off the top of my head I like:

Chris Spielman
Bill Curry
Desmond Howard
Robert Smith
Jesse Palmer

That's great if you like Herbstreit so much. But to say he's great is your opinion, not a fact. I bet your also a big Ed Cunningham fan, which is fine, but I think he sucks.

BTW, did you watch the clip of Herbstreit posted earlier on this thread (all-time tourney)? Did you think that was unbiased and professional? Not to mention how ignorant he came off.

That little whining bitch has had in for the skers since Trev Alberts was on the staff there in the early 2000s. 2002, he went off on Trev during gameday one Sat, during a segment about the Cornhuskers woes that season. He told Trev that no one wants to hear about Nebraska anymore, and basically to shut up about. I wanted Trev to wrap that whiny c$&t into a pretzel. Yeah old Homer hates him some Nebraska. Know that Bo Bo is gone, it's going to get worse.

Everyone on College Gameday = one of the main reason I never watch ESPN (except for a live game).

Just like SNL, I can't remember the last time I watched College gameday. Even when Nebraska dominated in the 90s those pos mfs took shots at DONU.

Yep my opinion is he's one of the best. (didn't say great). But its also more of a general consensus. Most times you see listing of top analysts he'll be listed near the top. I think Spielman is very good also. Bill Curry is good also. Robert Smith and Jesse Palmer are okay. Desmond Howard is a joke. He predicted that VaTech would win the ACC this year...and OSU would lose 4 games. Had UM ranked #6 last season. I don't take him seriously at all.

No, I hadn't watched that video until you mentioned it so I went back and watched. I can definitely see your point there. It wasn't his finest hour and certainly came across with an axe to grind vs. Nebraska. At first I thought it was entertaining but then he crossed the line. I'm not enough of a college football aficionado to weigh in on who was the best of those teams. Heck we only got to see those teams in the 70s play maybe once/twice a year. I know I always rooted for Nebraska over Oklahoma...and was a big Johnny Rodgers guy. (Years later I came to like Nebraska even more when I learned Devaney came up under MSU great coaches Biggie Munn & Duffy Daugherty). Always rooted for the Nebraska teams in the 80s and 90s. I know first hand how great the 95 team was because they embarrassed us in Nick Saban's first game at MSU.

for sure .. agree
it is like arguing politics .. you can't win

My take on it. I think it could have easily been called either way. My point is that HCMR and OCDL should not have their wide outs that close to sideline. Why take a chance? What if it was really a big game that mattered? By having the receivers that close to the sideline, you lessen the chance of a completion anyway even without a penalty.

Hash mark to hash mark baby!

Good thing it's 40' in college, wouldn't want to be compressed on an NFL field..
