Hearing Nate Boerkircher in portal

100% agree with you and kawdawg. The idea of throwing in, what I call a "mercy play" just to reward a guy is stupid.

If you reward him for taking one for the team, same should apply to that 3rd team OT who gets his brains beat out in practice everyday from Ty and Nash, but the kid never sees the field.

I like HH, I know he tries his ass off and is a team guy, but he's a guy without a position. People thinking he's gonna be a tight end are kidding themselves. He's 20-30 #'s too light with a QB mentality of physicalness.
I honestly thought HH would be more involved this year just because I think he's one of the best athletes on the team. I did not like the zone option keeper to the left once a game. Too obvious, duh.

12 games, 25 carries for 111 yards, and 10-18 passes. Touched the ball 43 times.

I like him, but if Nebraska actually liked him they should give more in state true tough blocking TE’s a look. They are a dime a dozen in Nebraska and we always let them go elsewhere it seems.
Let's look at the TE catches and use after Dana arrived--That should be a better evaluation.

I always thought Nate was undervalued and under used. Fidone gets all the hype and Nate just goes out does a solid job. Very few drops and is a good blocker. Rarely targeted. What he averages? 1 reception a game maybe 2? Not a win for the program him leaving.
Good receiver, nice career. I think he'll be a 6th year guy though. Time to make room for Carter Nelson.

If he only averages 1 or 2 catches a game, not sure how it is a loss either.

3rd string TE portal dudes aren’t even worth a thread. There isn’t any interest or money out there for him. But good luck. 😁

I like him but won't lose any sleep over him. I thought he should've been used less and a lot of the Fidone "plays" might've been better suited for him. Solid kid I think but end of the day we gotta move some bodies. Let's not forget the DH offense isn't as much of a TE friendly offense as what Sat was running. So yeah some bodies could move on.

Holla
HH would be a matchup nightmare in the slot if he consistently catches the ball. I think he’s an extremely valuable guy for us as an emergency QB. His passing is obviously improved. I think we could win games with him if Dylan went down. His run threat causes a problem for defenses.

Add Hood to the growing list of portal additions of highly ranked high school kids who signed with blue blood programs, and then transferred to NU only to get buried on depth chart behind walk-ons. I wonder how much background work our current and past coaches have done on these guys or if there are just taking flyers on them based on past recruiting rankings and where they are transferring from.
Rankings and where he is transferring from don't mean anything to these coaches. Look at Rhule targets right now, several kids from smaller schools. Film is how they decide and I hope they are making the decision based on production not potential.
